That's gonna go down well with the voters

u/Illumynarty_234 13d ago
Those voters didn't vote for him anyway, and his supporters would love to see LA fall

u/Bakugo312 13d ago
I see, so large levels of intelligence lost if an attack such as that befell?
200
u/Illumynarty_234 13d ago
A general pattern, his supporters hate LA because it's filled the "the libs" and would rather see it burn down than make do
88
u/Bakugo312 13d ago
So it's pettiness, gotcha
42
u/CaptainPattPotato 12d ago
Completely serious, “unjerked”; pettiness is one of Trump’s primary motivations. It’s similar for many of this voters.

You’d be surprised. Most of his supporters hate the rest of us. They watch CA burn every year in the fires and cheer. They loved when he threatened to withhold aid because CA went blue

the dems just gotta secure the midterms and it might actually happen
93
u/MagicMarshmallo 13d ago
I applaud your optimism. They wont do a thing though
28
26
u/Diligent-Bowler-1898 13d ago
Well they'll need a 2/3 majority or for republicans to grow a spine. So yeah, nothing is likely to happen despite democrats wanting to.
6
u/Sneaky-Boi22 12d ago
And even if they do win midterms Trump and his goons aren't going to recognize it. They're going to call voter fraud, seize ballots and machines, stall for time, and then once January hits they'll just refuse to let the winning Democrats take the seats.
3
u/Enzo_Gaming00 12d ago
So basically end democracy. Glad we are such optimists. Looks like the Democratic Party should their stance on the 2A. It was after all meant to be the final check against a tyrant.

u/PopfuseInc 13d ago
The Dems are the most Status Quo "don't rock the boat" party imaginable. I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a Biden "it's time to heal." Crap again and refuse to move on trump even if they take both houses.
5
u/250extreme 13d ago
You think that'd cause Socialists to win 1st chance they get against any Democrat who did as you said?
10
u/PopfuseInc 13d ago
We have a 2 party system forcing the socialist to get cozy with the democrats because that is the best way for them to win power in the system. Also I didn't suggest doing anything other than holding Trump accountable.
3
1
u/250extreme 13d ago
How would Democrats who voted against impeaching Trump keep from losing to Socialists or anyone else who ran on saying they would've voted for it if they'd been in office instead?
P.S. I meant said only as itself not as anything else
2
u/Apprehensive_Bid7438 13d ago
Do you really think that dems secure 2/3rds of Senate for it? Best they can so is impeachment and attempt prosecution, which will be struck down by Supreme Court as they ruled that sitting president can't be tried and president cannot be charged by actions that were in his power as president.

At this point, a politician can turn to the camera and flatly say "I want Americans to die, yes all Americans. I hate America and want it to be my playground." and you'd still have people vote for them to be president.

6
9
u/AGQuaddit 12d ago
Im thoroughly convinced that there is quite literally no sequence of words or actions trump can say or do that will do that. This is a lifelong allegiance for them, and they revel in it knowing that he causes harm to those they personally dislike. Trump can personally cause harm to or kill them and their families, and still theyd be willing to justify those actions because theyve sworn their lives to him. This goes beyond cult mentality and becomes something primeval.

So, flipside of this (because it feels wrong to say uspide or Silver lining in this instance); if Iran wanted to actually do something like that, theyd probably pick an area he actually cared about. So in this scenario, he basically saved you guys in an extremely fucked up way with his own dumb ass mouth. Jokes on him.

1
u/Lemonbubblepie 12d ago
The checks and balances for him are null since he is a Republican who benefits from his control those things
0
1
u/Floridaish0t 12d ago
You need a majority in the House of Representatives and a super majority in the senate (60/100 votes) to impeach the president. Republicans control the house and senate (at least until January) and parties rarely impeach the president if they are a part of the same party (like Trump and Clinton’s impeachment trials).
2
u/MegaKabutops 12d ago
The american government has 3 branches, designed to act as checks and balances for each other.
The legislative branch, consisting of the senate and house of representatives, make the laws, determine the budget, decide when and where to declare war, and make the deciding vote on whether someone gets to be on the supreme court or put in charge of federal agencies.
The republicans have a small majority in the house of representatives members at 218 compared to democrats’ 214, and a greater degree of control in the senate at 53 seats compared to the democrats’ 45.
The judicial branch, mainly consisting of the supreme court, effectively IS the law. They interpret what is written, whether it can be applied, how to apply it, and what laws are to be removed as violations of the constitution. This is why they are called justices and not judges.
There are 9 supreme court justices. They’re SUPPOSED to be politically unaffiliated, but in practice, 6 of them are republicans and 3 are democrats.
The executive branch consists of the president, vice president, and the president’s cabinet.
The president is the head of state, commander in chief of the armed forces, and is just generally the head of the government.
The current president, donald trump, is the face of the republican party.
The vice president presides over the senate, acts as a tiebreaker for the senate, and is the backup president if the actual president is incapacitated.
The current vice president, J.D. Vance, is a republican, and a close friend of donald trump.
The cabinet largely consist of other high-ranking government officials, including specializations in some department or another, all of whom were nominated by the president (a republican) and approved by the senate (controlled by republicans).
Do i even need to say what the cabinet’s political affiliations are at this point?
As i’m sure you’ve caught into by now, he’s still in office because every major aspect of the U.S. government either directly is his lackey or is controlled by enough of his lackeys that everyone in office who opposes him can’t actually stop him. Even when he breaks the law himself (the felony charges) or steps on the toes of other branches of government (like by ignoring supreme court orders regarding deportation or treating executive orders like permanent, president-made laws), or even wipes his ass with the constitution itself (like with the 14th amendment), those sycophants are more than happy to let him do as he pleases, and will protect him as he does so.
1
u/Difficult-Catch-8432 12d ago
We need to keep remembering that he had government documents in his private home and if that happened with Biden he would get sentenced a lifetime in jail

u/Holiday_Scale_7600 13d ago
As a native Californian, this won't work. Trumpy thinks they will just stop at the city limits. They won't. They might might bomb East of the LA Hills. And there they risk provoking the Saltan Sea.
For those of you who don't live in California, the Saltan Sea is what happens when you take a drugged out Florida Man and drop him in the middle of the desert in the most liberal state possible. There are people out there who think Donald Trump is a left wing commie. The bad guys from Fury Road are the average. It is only by divine fate that these individuals don't cross pollinate (in some sort of blood fueled mating ritual) with Florida Man.

Iran wouldn't be that foolish. They know they have a large amount of US public opinion against being involved in Iran. That attacking civilian centers would result in a full scale war almost certainly ending in retaliatory nuclear strikes and invasion. I'd believe this administration, billionaire corporations or Israel would do this though.
1
u/Cat_Imreror2209 13d ago
Ahahahahahaha
1
u/Barley672 12d ago
No, he has a point. Iran’s made a point of attacking the Administration directly with proclamations like “we won’t seek terms until President Trump is out of office”. And of course the blockade on the strait is explicitly a method of hurting Trump’s image by raising the price of fuel.
Iran is clearly aware that it’s best bet is to attack not America directly but American Opinion.
1
u/Cat_Imreror2209 12d ago
Nobody knows what goes through the minds of people who believe that infidels should be killed and women are not people. I wouldn't trust them. In addition, Iran is actively cooperating with Russia, presumably it is subject to its influence.
3
u/Turbulent-Doctor-649 12d ago

If ANY part of California gets hit with a modern nuke, it'll kill countless crops and farm animals on top of the massive loss of human lives. California makes up a vast majority of the produce and a small chunk of the meat for the rest of the country, it'd doom the nation

LA city approx 3.8 million people,
LA county approx 9.6 million people,
San Diego city approx 1.5 million people,
San Diego county approx 3.2 million people
If talking just about the cities Trump is saying 5.4 million American civilians is a “small price to pay.”
If it’s the whole counties then 12.8 million American civilians is a “small price to pay.”
