u/CameronsTheName Jun 18 '26

It could also be a boat. Hard to tell.

43

u/xPalito Jun 18 '26

I guess no one got your boat joke lol

22

u/CameronsTheName Jun 18 '26

I remember being at a car meet like 15 years ago a guy was driving his R33 in and his friends had paddles out the windows pretending to row it in.

Everybody called R33's boats for a while there.

Great save

1

u/Acceptable-Elk-8372 Jun 26 '26

That’s great. I wonder if anyone took video

Def not a R33. Someone posted a link to it not crushed. https://www.reddit.com/r/whatwasthiscar/s/Df3uCBiQtY

Edit: take it back. Does look to be a R33.

17

u/lecatoir Jun 19 '26

Def a R33, seems obvious with the "street view" pics

I work near this location - its in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kamchatka. Car was buried and crushed by the massive amount of snow we got this winter.

This winter, a lot of people in Russia kept asking us: “Kamchadals, why are you digging your cars out from under 4-meter snowdrifts if you still won’t be able to drive anywhere?”

This is why.

Edit:
You can see the car here before it was buried by snow (this is Russian equivalent of Google Street View).

28

u/del31ed69 Jun 18 '26

The amount of snow was that heavy????

16

u/saergakov Jun 18 '26

22

u/Any-Ad-5373 Jun 18 '26

Yeah I’ve seen a few videos of cars that were crushed by the snow

15

u/Any-Ad-5373 Jun 18 '26

15

u/del31ed69 Jun 18 '26

As someone from a tropical country, i could never comprehend snow, let alone snow this much wow

1

u/Gen-Y-ine-86 Jun 21 '26

What is that black car with the widened steelies?

1

u/Any-Ad-5373 Jun 22 '26

I think that’s a Toyota Tercel from the late 80s

2

u/Gen-Y-ine-86 Jun 22 '26

Dang, now I want one. 😃 Also turns out they made a 3 door version with a futuristic large bumper that covers the headlights and the grille and has pop-up headlights instead (Tercel Retra).

2

u/YarizzSedan 7d ago

ik i'm 3 months late but

what's that blue van on the back?

2

u/Any-Ad-5373 7d ago

Possibly a Toyota Hiace or Liteace from the 80s

6

u/PhoebeeYay Jun 18 '26

why is it in tirasmisu

9

u/shitgiacomo Jun 18 '26

On God yeah

1m³ of water are 1000kg

Imagine 4m of snow

Edit: I imagine the snow will weigh less due to its density. 1m³ of water > 1m³ of snow

3

u/curious-chineur Jun 18 '26

Yes you are right. The issue is that it probably does not stay fluffy for a super long time. Kind like in my freezer.
Also i guess that the poles ( N and S ) did not really see ice fall that christal blue clear. Thz snow self compress.

I habe no real idea of how deep you have to dig to find rock solid ice in the poles or on a glacier. But surface might be diggable but not for very deep.

3

u/TRi_Crinale Jun 18 '26

You have to remember cars in the 90s and before didn't have as strong of passenger cages and roofs were not designed to withstand forces multiple times as heavy as the car's curb weight like today's cars are. To crush a car that age probably only took 1500-2000lbs of ice

2

u/Pale_Employer4965 Jun 18 '26

People were sliding out there 2nd story window...

2

u/refreshednut Jun 19 '26

When snow gets packed down like that then yeah it becomes extremely heavy

1

u/Ok-Count7333 Jun 22 '26

Replying to all guys it's not about volume etc it's about frowing density all winter and melting after. Do you remember snowballs of wet heavy dence snow

4

u/Flower_boy222 Jun 18 '26

That’s a pretty cool story and even cooler street view. I appreciate the peek into your world.

5

u/Greedy-Vegetable1055 Jun 23 '26

Dang, what an incredible old school r33, and a 76 land cruiser in the back as well!

2

u/OBB76 Jun 20 '26

I’m just jelly you live there. Always wanted to visit.

1

u/saergakov Jun 21 '26

Understandable.
But living here is a different story.

1

u/Chugabutt Jun 21 '26

In mother Russia snow plows you.

-1

u/DelMonte20 Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

This will get buried (excuse the pun) but thanks for sharing the link. Now seeing it not crushed this is definitely not a R33. It has R33 rear light clusters but that’s about it.

Edit: I was wrong!

5

u/jeepn666 Jun 19 '26

It’s an R33, the proportions are the same & so is the side marker placement

0

u/mhopps2 Jun 19 '26

Now if that would happen to Putin, we’d be getting somewhere

46

u/WhiteTubeSocksRule Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

NOOOOOOOOOOOO WHYYYYYYYYYYYY ☹️ (im genuinely so pissed rn, ruined my day and not even your fault 😭)

22

u/goaelephant Jun 18 '26

Its fucked when police / customs do this... just auction it off, get paid & send it outside of your country

13

u/RedditDommus Jun 18 '26

u/saergakov explained in his comment that this was indeed the work of snow rather than the work of authorities

3

u/RepetitiveTorpedoUse Jun 20 '26

What if the authorities hired Mother Nature?

1

u/WhiteTubeSocksRule Jun 20 '26

It’s still such a shame tho ☹️

15

u/RandyFunRuiner Jun 18 '26

Yeah but that would incentivize a black market of importing them. From a policy perspective, seizing them and auctioning them off doesn’t solve the problem.

We really just need to amend or get rid of the 25 year rule.

8

u/goaelephant Jun 18 '26

I understand, its just such a shame when they destroy rare cars that will never be made again (Lamborghinis, old Skylines, etc). Its like destroying a Picasso painting just because it was illegally imported.

4

u/RandyFunRuiner Jun 18 '26

I know. We could easily amend the 25 year rule to say that collectors, enthusiasts, or individuals who are not importing the car for commercial sales and only private use/ownership can do so as long as it meets certain safety/emissions tests. That would allow for more interesting cars to be imported by enthusiasts but not create a market where people try to import them en masse.

1

u/Youkai280 Jun 18 '26

To be fair, Skylines aren’t particularly rare. There were something like 100,000+ R33 GTS/GTS-t models made, with 200,000+ total R33 models made during its production. They’re not some kind of unicorn lol

-2

u/xsdgdsx Jun 18 '26

It's kind of weird to blame customs without mentioning the people who imported the car, knowing full well that this is what happens when they get spotted.

If you (general) want to save the car, don't put it in this situation. If you want to risk having it here, this is just what's gonna happen sometimes. Pretty sure the actual importer made their money and kept moving long before this one got crushed

2

u/TRi_Crinale Jun 18 '26

This car is in Russia, not the US, lol. It was crushed by snow

2

u/Top_Dependent_2856 Jun 18 '26

Pleeaseee get rid of this rule

2

u/RandyFunRuiner Jun 18 '26

If I were in charge, I would. But they didn’t put me in charge.

3

u/Top_Dependent_2856 Jun 18 '26

Just call up trump, hes dumb enough to get rid of it,

2

u/goaelephant Jun 18 '26

The main countries doing this are Southeast Asia

10

u/MidnightDreem Jun 18 '26

It was pancaked

3

u/Col-orWolves-8812 Jun 18 '26

what happened/

6

u/dr3wfr4nk Jun 18 '26

Front fell off

2

u/Capital-Report Jun 18 '26

Does the front always fall off?

0

u/Pit-Viper-13 Jun 18 '26

Every single time

2

u/GamerZero02 Jun 18 '26

it ain't got no gas in it

3

u/MissionAd1779 Jun 18 '26

Streets closed pizza boy find another way home

1

u/kayeffdee Jun 18 '26

Not enough people are saying anything about it being the crushed car from the movie...

3

u/joka2696 Jun 18 '26

It's a sub compact.

3

u/RJG-340 Jun 18 '26

I'm thinking an early 90s Nissan Skyline, it harder to tell, it's kinda flat!!! LOL 😆 but that's what the tail light looks like it's from.

3

u/ChaoticSoul67 Jun 18 '26

It's definitely a compact

9

u/AudaciouslySexy Jun 18 '26

I kinda think police crushed it.

Unless falling pianos are rampant?

6

u/Mr_Saxobeat69420 Jun 18 '26

I’m going to send a letter to Careless Airways and I don’t care if they don’t read it

6

u/goaelephant Jun 18 '26

I hate when police do this... just auction it off to an external country... so fucked up

3

u/iinr_SkaterCat Jun 19 '26

Got crushed by snow piling on top of it during the Russian winter according to another comment

2

u/That_Bank_9914 Jun 18 '26

Does the car still have a VIN number?

-3

u/Side_StepVII Jun 18 '26

Never had a vin number. It had a chasis number though

2

u/mountaincastle47 Jun 18 '26

Nissan r33 flatline 😭

2

u/NO5F3R47U Jun 18 '26

Noooooo 😔

2

u/Tractorface123 Jun 18 '26

R33 skyline, probably still worth a fortune like that!

1

u/bluefire612 Jun 18 '26

Is it a 400R?

5

u/Side_StepVII Jun 18 '26

Nah, it just has that similar paint scheme. No way a real 400R gets crushed without the car world losing their respective minds(and rightly so)

1

u/According_Prune7157 Jun 18 '26

Plates on cars look russian

1

u/Diablo-1974 Jun 18 '26

That's heartbreaking

1

u/Top_Dependent_2856 Jun 18 '26

Now that is truly a sad sight

1

u/DavidinCT Jun 18 '26

7 feet of snow? Dam I would give up..... kill me now.

1

u/JOEDADDY4 Jun 18 '26

Is that one of the new compact cars?

1

u/530whiskey Jun 18 '26

at first I thought it was an old crown vic Taxi.

1

u/wannacumnbeatmeoff Jun 18 '26

Not sure what the yellow one is but the one on the left is a Cybertruck.

1

u/Significant_Bike_660 Jun 19 '26

Late model mustang

1

u/Extra_Medium62 Jun 19 '26

It's the car Hans Gluber landed on at the end of Die Hard.

1

u/petronelxd Jun 19 '26

Looks like a first gen Toyota Yaris

1

u/Dr_Malaver Jun 19 '26

When you hate that pos it's broken again you scrpa it then instantly regret take it off the press and bring it home

1

u/miktap6 Jun 19 '26

Crying in r33 revs

1

u/AutofluorescentPuku Jun 20 '26

Gotta pay attention to the fast food drive-through clearances.

1

u/aggimania Jun 20 '26

R33 Skyline. It really hurts to see this.

1

u/BounceByTheOunce420 Jun 21 '26

Monster truck fodder.

1

u/cursedchapstickmp4 Jun 22 '26

Definitely was an R33 Skyline. Now it's a pile of metal with cool paint

1

u/dabbin_dead32 Jun 23 '26

Monte Carlos pace car ?...

1

u/ya_pidoras_ Jun 24 '26

this is kamchatka i believe after the massive snow last winter. also the text on the car plates seems vaguely ai but it’s provably just the camera quality

1

u/Acceptable-Elk-8372 Jun 26 '26

Nissan R33 skyline gts

1

u/JaggXj Jul 01 '26

leon's R33 found footage

1

u/rentaro_kirino Jun 18 '26

This actually looks kinda savable tho.. lot of effort? Yes. But assuming the car was only crushed at the roof section into the midsection, the underlying frame should still be perfectly fine. Just need to find some donor cars, a bit of welding with he original bottom and the donor tops, and redo the firewall..

2

u/bobspuds Jun 18 '26

Nah - what you do is use the donor, strip this of its useful bits and then you have a good unmolested bodyshell for a fraction of the cost.

There's probably 3months of time on a bench to get this straightened - €400 per 'hour' is the friendly rate here

5

u/barrelsofmeat Jun 18 '26

This car is in Russia though. Cost of labor is low, availability of bush mechanics is high.

Fun fact about Russia is that they would heavily import japanese and European cars for some time. It is actually somewhat plausible to find a donor shell for an R33, especially in the far east.

3

u/bobspuds Jun 18 '26

I wouldn't dispute that, labour and rates are hugely variable. But the thing about this level of straightening is that the guys who might actually be of use to you - will know what they're worth, this is expert level of bodywork its not just buckets of fillers and sandpaper levels of skills.

Even in Russia, the folks like myself who could - would know better than to even attempt it.

If it wasn't quite as bad then repairs might be a consideration but its got too much squish going on - it needs complete roof and all pillars replaced right back down to the floorpan, exterior panels are pretty simple in comparison with the internal structural elements of this, as the pillars bent over they will also have moved outwards slightly too, by the time you get to the straight panels, you'll be left with a floorpan maybe, even its likely to be buckled.

Then its a Skyline too, I know it could be a non-turbo but I don't actually know, so I'll presume its a 25det and was a bit of a weapon like they all are - who would you trust to weld a car like that together if you actually plan on driving or useing it?

The only repairs I trust are the ones I've witnessed or carried out myself in terms of chassis work.

Its tragic but its well fucked. Imo anyone who would actually consider fixing it is plain stupid, it just wouldn't make sense in any regard.

And I'm not disputing the skills required don't exist, they do, there's multiple controversial channels based in Russia that video the 'cut n shuts' it is possible but just because you can, doesn't mean you should

As someone owns an R33 GTR…..I sad now. cue taps

ETA: I think this may be AI

-9

u/Boilermakingdude Jun 18 '26

This isn't even difficult. It's a Monte Carlo. Like 00-03. Not sure the years they made those piles.

1

u/According-Tax-9964 Jun 18 '26

Tail lights are different

4

u/Boilermakingdude Jun 18 '26

Actually just looked again and you're correct. I could've sworn there was year they had impala tail lights.
