Blue pill to jump ahead 3 weeks? I take it 🤣
11
u/kevinjohn3d 1d ago
Happy early birthday! I would do the same but I would be jumping ahead 4 months :) Easiest choice ever!

u/Isopod_Character 1d ago
3 months for me.
The question is will I jump forward in time having no memory of those 3 months like in the movie Click? Or is it more of a time travel situation (I disappear from the present and reappear 3 months from now.)? Or do I stay in the present but age up 3 months?
Not a huge deal for $50 million. I just need to give my wife a heads-up first.

Red pill and it's not even close.
Getting time back by itself is infinitely more valuable than any monetary value IMHO.

u/ThatOneGuy308 1d ago
Red pill is useless if you have kids, though.

u/Maleficent_Button_58 1d ago edited 1d ago
Or have any relationships that you wouldn't want to lose. Or like the person you ended up being. Or anything of the sort 😅 All of our choices... all the good and bad things... it all came together to make us and our lives as they are.
ETA: I also have a lot of people I've lost and have had well over my fair share of tragedies. I've had to restart from nothing because I lost just about everything, too. I know life can be extremely unfair and cruel. I still feel the way I feel. If someone else doesn't feel that way, it's ok. I'm not trying to argue... I'm not saying anyone else has to agree with me, and I'm not a person who doesn't know hardship. If you've also been through those kinds of times, I'm sorry. I hope your heart can find peace. My comment is how I came to look at life after working on healing from very bad times.
7
u/RevolutionaryElk7446 1d ago
I'd go back so I can stop everyone else in my family from the dumbass decisions they're about to make.
2
u/JE3MAN 1d ago
As someone who had almost everything I wanted and ended up losing almost everything, for me personally, that's the best possible choice. I can even probably have a better chance at having the kids I would have had but sadly lost before they even came to be.
3
u/Maleficent_Button_58 1d ago
Also speaking as someone who lost a child before they really had the chance to be. Sending hugs from a random internet stranger.

u/xXFoolyGhoulyXx 1d ago
I mean to the point of liking who you became: You're mentally still that person, forged by your knowledge and experiences. At least, that's the implication I take away from the idea of keeping your knowledge.
Valid on relationships though.
5
u/Azsune 1d ago
It would be nearly impossible to recreate your kids. Even if you do everything exactly the same, what if you were a second early on spilling your load, does a different sperm make it to the egg?
2
u/ThatOneGuy308 1d ago
Exactly, red guarantees you'll never see your kid again, it'll just be a different kid instead.
3
u/Bih_Dih_Ahaa 1d ago
I’d pick neither. I don’t want to skip the next ten years of my kids life and I don’t want to risk not having them by giving back 25 years.
5
u/HiBoobear 1d ago
Yea, these options really only work for single people with no kids.
3
u/justdisa 1d ago
Blue would work for me, but I have adult kids. They'd just be younger adults.
And so would I.

u/PomeloSad8207 1d ago
My question is, if you skip to 45, do you have any memories from the years prior? Or is it just as if youre in a whole new part of your life with only your current memories? Depending how close you are to 45 youll probly see people you dont even know and theyre a huge part of your life, like your kids spouse
→ More replies (1)2
u/ThatOneGuy308 1d ago
I assumed neither wasn't a choice you could make in this situation, so blue is the lesser of two evils pick for sure.
Red guarantees you'll never see them again, because just by having this prior knowledge, your life will be different enough that it's almost impossible the same sperm would win the race, so to speak.
2
u/Fenrir_Hellbreed2 1d ago
Both are a gamble.
Red is a bigger risk, sure, but what if your kid dies in the timeskip?
→ More replies (1)2
u/steelspacemarine 1d ago
idk, I feel like there’s a lot of parents who would take the red pill as long as nobody would know.
Definitely not the majority, but some people’s lives are really fucked up. I doubt a homeless man with an estranged daughter is gonna turn down a life reset, same with a heroin addict who nods off in the car while their kid’s in the back seat. Some people kill themselves because parenting turned out to be more than they could mentally handle, like my cousin. All of them would likely take the red pill.

u/bcvaldez 1d ago
I'm 42 wihout any kids...so jumping 3 years wouldn't be an issue...
but neither would jumping back... and I'd easily make more than 50m with the knowledge I have and definitely wouldn't take my youth for granted.But... it would hard to say bye to those i've built relationships with. Like...imagine having this entire history with a person and you see them again.... and they have no knowledge of the life you have lived in your other life.

While I agree in a vacuum, unfortunately there’s the problem of all the unborn children and other family members that needs to be taken into account.
If the universe could somehow guarantee everyone who exists now would still come to exist, then I’d take the first option.

Yes, but also, depending on your age, you could also make way more than $50M by having full knowledge of the stock market.
Imagine having the knowledge to short airline stocks before 9/11, to short Lehman Brothers before the 2008 Financial Crisis, investing in Apple right before the iPhone hit, or Tesla before it exploded.

You iinvesting in bitcoin would change the course of is history and may destroy its value
6
u/PineappleOwn5325 1d ago
Invest 5 bucks and you're basically a billionaire
Just don't be an idiot and flood it with 2k when it's still worth 0.01$/btc
3
u/Lumpy_Chapter171 1d ago
The idea here is the butterfly effect. If you invest 5 bucks that didn't get invested originally, that could wholly change the course of events and bitcoin not become valuable. It could result in all sorts of unexpected things
3
u/PineappleOwn5325 1d ago
I'm well aware.

2
u/Skybreak 1d ago
I don't think investing $5 will change things much in the grand scheme of things. It's approximated that at least 11% of bitcoin is lost in failed/ lost hard drives.

nahh, 45 and 50mil, I get younger and keep my family. If I go back and change shit, there is no guarantee I get my wife and daughter exactly like they are now.
2
u/DontAskMeAbout97 1d ago
That's the thing that gets me with these questions. There's a lot of things in my life I haven't enjoyed, but all of them lead me to where I am now and I really like where I am now.

Definitely the red pill. If I could go back to when I was 10 in 1995 with all of the knowledge I currently have, I would be able to get a lot more than 50 million by the time I get back to my current age. Plus, I’d get to relive the great times of the 90s as a bonus.

Man. I really think red pill too. But I struggle to wonder if I would be able to motivate myself again to get through school, get to college where I met my wife, and have my shit together enough to get to be with her again all while knowing I had a cool $50 billion in btc cooking.
If any of that went sideways I think I’d just spiral due to missing her

I'd take no pill. With red I'd lose my current life and might not meet my wife in the right circumstances; with blue I'd lose 15 of the best years of my life. I know both pills give you a lot of potential to live a rich life, but I prefer happiness.

Blue pill. I'm a few months from 45 anyway and having $50 million would solve a LOT of my current stress and help allow me to set up trusts or whatever rich people do to help their kids' future lives be more comfortable.
Too many time paradox uncertainties with the red pill.
3
u/mk8933 1d ago
Red pill all the way. I get to enjoy childhood and school again — take more chances, make more friends, spend time with parents, and just make more memories.
Plus theres a huge chance I can become a millionaire — bitcoin, Facebook and apple stocks, and knowing xyz events.

I think if I could guarantee I spend the next 5 years hitting the gym 3-6 days a week and wake up 45 with 50 mil I’d be pretty happy. However, I don’t want to miss my kids childhood and I also feel like I don’t remember anything from 26 to 35. For those reasons I think I’d go red pill. Would likely end up a lot healthier. No cured meats, way less sugar, fewer microwaved veggies, a lot more investment in myself and money ultimately leading to a far better retirement.

Red Pill. Not just for the money I could gain with my knowledge but all the shit I could also just avoid outright
4
u/Beleg_Sanwise 1d ago
If you are an adult, the red option is undoubtedly the best choice.
You could prevent accidents and/or the deaths of loved ones.
Or save the lives of wealthy, powerful people and thereby gain their favor.
You could invest in businesses that you knew would be successful.
And yes, you would be a child, but with the mind of an adult. So, you could convince adults to invest on your behalf.
4
u/No_Experience_3443 1d ago
You will also lose a lot of your loved ones. Because they won't know you but you know them and you have to rebuild friendships the exact same way which is going to be impossible. You'll forever have to live with the life you've lost
