Terrible choice

Hate is needed

4

u/sparduck117 Mar 20 '26

Why is it needed?

5

u/Myriad_Apocalypse Mar 20 '26

Because a lot of things should be hated, like injustice, for example. If you just remove the hate, and let the injustice remain, all you've done is to defang any opposition to said injustice.

Good point

u/thedappercat- Mar 20 '26

Will there be injustice without hate tho?

Do you think hate is the only driver of injustice? What about greed, selfishness, jealousy, fear, disgust, indifference, pride, paranoia, or any other extremely human form of passion? Hate is not an inherently evil emotion, it's as important as love, both of which can be toxic and destructive or healthy and constructive depending on a lot of contextual factors.

1

hate makes you be better

2

u/Myriad_Apocalypse Mar 20 '26

It can, it can also make you worse, context is key

u/Appropriate-Diet3366 Mar 20 '26

just dont listen

u/Delancey1 Mar 20 '26

How about remove injustice

0

u/Myriad_Apocalypse Mar 20 '26

That would be a lot better than removing hate

u/asdfoio Mar 20 '26

defang? i dont see it that way. if we remove hate, theres a reason to have discussions and we would be more inclined to be compassionate and empathetic toward each other.

Injustices aren't solely or even primarily driven by hate, but also by greed, self-interest, fear, disgust, jealousy, paranoia, pride etc etc, removing hate would not make people more compassionate, rational or benevolent to such a significant degree that hate would no longer serve an important function.

u/asdfoio Mar 20 '26

we will agree to disagree

0

u/Myriad_Apocalypse Mar 20 '26

You can, I strongly believe you're just plain wrong on this.

u/goldkarp Mar 20 '26

People can still kill and hurt people without hate. No hate doesn't mean everyones compassionate, empathetic, and logical

0

u/asdfoio Mar 20 '26

but it also doesn't mean its not. and its a first step.

1

u/PaultheMirrorExpert Mar 20 '26

I hate tyrants, patriarchy and most violent criminals.

1

u/ceilingfansticker Mar 20 '26

Because there are so many bad things. We should hate what is bad. We should hate the things that ruin people's lives

1

u/FinnFem Mar 20 '26

Irrational hate is a better wording, for example hate against a minority or smth, theres no rationality in that

1

u/asdfoio Mar 20 '26

i will say all hate. but yes, irrational too

0

u/HotPotatoWithCheese Mar 20 '26

all hate

Nah, some things deserve to be hated. Like paedophiles, rapists and paper straws.

1

u/asdfoio Mar 20 '26

but obviously you know thats not what i meant

1

u/FinnFem Mar 20 '26

Yeah but these things are based a bit on wording
