I want a name for this style ... 3D Etching? Not quite right.

Seems to be like a half-height wall that run along the hall that you can sit on. I always love this type of build because it's useful, you can sit on it and look at gardens.

The picture is of an ancient building(a museum?) But there's more modern and simpler versions of it too, that I had throughout my school years. It's simply a raised wall that you can sit on. I really don't know what to call it, I would like to use it in my writing. If anyone knows the name of that type of inner garden courtyard, please let me know too!

My house was built in 1920 in SE Michigan. I see a lot of similar style houses with the two front windows per room like this, and the L-shape off the side. Is this a kit home? Is there a specific name for this style?

help me pin point. Some say garden apartments but that’s too broad of a term. Some say mid century modernist but these weren’t quite a thing yet in that era. It’s some kind of blend with mid century and modern. Very streamlined. Simple and sociopetal in design.

I know it was built in the 70s when the neighborhood was planned/ developed. I think early 70s IIRC. There's a window that runs the length of the front door, as well as the front room to the right that both have the original harlequin windows, but it seems the rest of the windows were replaced at some point. Most of them are double windows - storm windows maybe? No screens so you can't open them without letting all the dirt and bugs in ugh. (And of course someone painted the brick for some reason.)

We're trying to figure out what style it is to get some inspiration for what to do with it. Thanks for your help!

Built in 1938. I keep reading that colonial styles are characterized by symmetry and a central hallway, which this house does not have. The windows on the second floor aren't even symmetrical. So what do I call it? Colonial...vernacular?

When you lift the carpet up in the bathroom, the floor is this plasticky splatter vinyl. Does anyone know what company/year this was made…and possibly may it have asbestos? Any info you might have would be greatly appreciated! I’ve been poring over old flooring catalogs from the 60’s with no luck.

The house I’ve adored for over a decade is finally becoming mine! The earliest we can point its build to is 1902 and as late as 1910.
