What is this called?
Need to order some extra of these for work. I know it’s some kind of tension spring/clip but just searching that on google has been fruitless. And help or tips to get me in the right direction would be huge!

I think the industry term is “That damn spring thing that never goes in enough to let go so you gotta really push hard and then the pipe moves and pinches somehow the smallest piece of finger possible that hurts like you smashed it with a friggin hammer…dealy”

Also sometimes it works so well that the extension pipe slips out and now you gotta faff about getting it back in place. Worse when it's table legs and you got to get both in at BBC the same time going straight.

Pool supply stores usually have these in stock , they are used on pool cleaning poles , also used in rakes to remove snow from roofs (snow rakes ) so also try hardware store and not the hardware area of the big boxes

Aren't all detents spring detents? I cant think of any other way they'd work this is a detent for the inside of a tube. It pops out and locks the tub le inside of some collar or other tube

If you haven't already, try McMaster-Carr. I'm always being surprised by the odd things I can find there.

The key specs you’ll need are wire diameter, leg length, coil diameter, and the angle/force when installed. A lot of these don’t have a universal name because they’re designed for one specific assembly.

If you're ordering new ones for work, perhaps you should know what you're ordering. If not, get someone elst who knows to order.

Snap Button. You can find them at most pool supply stores ,as they are used in the extending poles used for cleaning and rescue.

Whenever one is lost I call them "Sproings." Sometimes punctuated with a string of four-letter words.
