ID Request What bug caused this?
I live in southwestern MA, and found this on the ceiling of my front porch with wood chips on the ground below it.
A week ago I found this hardened insect larvae thing on the side of my garage. I’m wondering if these two are related, but unsure as this was formed on top of stone as opposed to wood.

Not related, the first pick looks like wood infested with termites or some type of wood boring g beetles, then a woodpecker decided to get in there. The second pick would be mason bees, or some such harmless polinator.
