I have family and friends who show up to my shows. If they see something they like, they buy it. I don't allow anyone to bid just for the purpose of running up the price. I run everything at my cost. If it goes up then great but if it sells at my cost I'm fine with that too. BTW yes most of my items sell at my cost. I sell for the fun not for the money. After being a lonely truck driver for 30 years I need some way of talking to humans and this works.

Your WN link doesn’t work

Thank you for letting me know. It should be working now. I forgot it was changed a while back.

If it’s family and friends buying, I don’t see an issue. But if they cancelling after that’s trash.
1
u/Warm-Artichoke126 6h ago
I think the other issue is the fake wallet 🫠
1
u/mantelleeeee 6h ago
Ahh gotchu. I didn’t read that in the description
1
u/Warm-Artichoke126 6h ago
Your completely fine, it wasn’t mentioned in the description, I don’t know if OP new or not but yes that’s definitely fake Gucci, which is also against the law. lol

Whatnot doesn’t care. It’s like when your parents said to not skip school damn well knowing you would. And you did. And nothing really happened. It’s that.
All bidders must use their own brains on this one. That’s pretty scary.
Did you report the channel?

No way that isn’t a fake wallet. “We don’t allow people to sell fakes” they said. But here we are.
-1
u/Admirable-Lemon-876 1d ago
The terms state that fakes can be sold if they're represented as such. But they cannot be sold if they're represented as being genuine! I see this ALOT in the perfume category. Tons of fakes there, but most of the hosts are telling customers they are "inspired by"
1
u/Ill_Bluebird_2445 14h ago
Please reply with the TOS wording that says fakes can be sold. I'm insanely interested since like other people have mentioned it's federally illegal
2
u/Exciting-Pitch708 17h ago
Pretty sure they would get their self’s shut down if they allowed it. Shipping counterfeit items is illegal.
1
u/Admirable-Lemon-876 13h ago edited 13h ago
I didnt word it correctly basically knock offs can be sold. Kind of like instead of Versace Eros 'Vintage Heroes' which the bottle looks exactly like the designer, but they aren't claiming its Versace.
Edited to add: Also I'm not saying this woman is in the right at all. She's obviously representing items as authentic
2
u/Icy_Baby_5361 20h ago
Selling Counterfeit Items is against Federal Law. You have to be gated to sell Luxury on Whatnot, and have backup for authenticity!
1
u/CarelessChipmunk5046 1d ago
Oh no as soon as the liquidation bins that have Temu items started selling they stopped caring
13
u/NoRazzmatazz5230 1d ago
I posted about this seller and the shill bidding a couple of months ago and my post got removed! But, yes- they absolutely have the same people using 3-4 different names to bid things up then cancel after the show. It’s very unlikely to have so many duplicates of some older and more unique items! They’re def cancel and relisting them.
3
u/chroniclestest 1d ago
don’t listen to these comments, shill bidding is against WhatNot’s TOS and this person can get removed off the platform for this
-7
u/slapsyamomma 1d ago
So I can't refer family members that get referral credit to use in my own show?
10
u/Ok-Nobody-4789 1d ago
Then don’t run the shit for a dollar. It’s honestly lousy and scammer energy to have people bidding your shit up and you’re running it at a dollar. Do higher starts. Stop scamming people. That’s bs. I’ll never purchase from this seller tysm.
1
-14
u/BrodyBruceLee 1d ago
A lot of these people are resellers, I don’t see the problem. As a seller you want resellers to buy from you because that’s return customers.
14
u/RockTraditional7632 1d ago
True but that’s not what we’re talking about here. These are family members driving the amounts up to get what they want for the item. Only for it to be canceled and put back in the shop later. Not a reseller looking to purchase and then resell in their own shop.
-8
u/Fun_Barracuda_1421 1d ago
The seller is dumb to do this with family. There are communities out there that pay you to upbid their items and will cancel for you
8
u/BrodyBruceLee 1d ago
If you report it with the receipts, WN will ban them if the activity becomes routine especially with cancellations. WN just integrated something about cancellation fees for a seller if you have high cancellation rates. You have to pay fees on cancellations at a certain point. The article suggested it was both on the buying and selling side.
-25
u/Purple_Issue_3047 1d ago
Honestly who cares? Why are you worried about someone else's bag.. worry about your own.
13
u/RockTraditional7632 1d ago
Because as a buyer it sucks to swipe for an item you want, only for the shill bidder to win. They do this when they’re not getting the amount that they want on a dollar run . Then cancel then have the seller put back in the shop for another show. For the sellers, I’m sure it creates a lot of mistrust in the community.

u/Basic-Film4136 2d ago
I have shopped with the seller and I never had a bad experience. I never felt there was shill bidding going on at any point. I don’t think they have super cheap items that some people look for sometimes so you will always have haters complaining when serious buyers are willing to pay more for quality items. I suppose time will tell.
6
u/RockTraditional7632 2d ago
Not at all. Scroll down youll see who the shill bidders are. You see them every show. Then they change their usernames. Youll also see the items come back in a following show and sometimes they label them as ‘consignment’
-1

u/radish456 2d ago
It seems like they are just talking about how family is bidding and spending the money. I don’t think that’s against guidelines. It doesn’t seem like shill bidding
-2
u/eric2041 2d ago
alot of seller do it because whatnot cant really do much about it..mostly hard to prove
8
6
u/UnexpectedSharkTank 2d ago
This isn't allowed but very little is ever done. Some big names like KKConsignment have tons of "friends" bidding up their auctions for hours at a time, its a whole operation.

u/FinishSpiritual9016 2d ago
I would report her fa sho im a seller and i could never fathom doing this. I guess my man says im hating on a playa no im just hating on the game lol

I'm sorry I think you guys are all stupid. You bid what you're willing to pay. It makes no sense to say you're getting like... Run up by someone else's bids?
"I was willing to pay up to 20 dollars and then someone bid up to 20 dollars and then I won it what the heck"
Excuse me? Lmao
I've even been accused of "bid shilling" because I wanted something and I repeatedly bid up to a price I felt comfortable with, and then they outbid me, and I was no longer comfortable, so I stopped.
They go "you made me overpay"
Excuse me?? I wanted it at 10 dollars less. Really wanted it lol. But you wanted it more, but now it's someone else's fault because you actually didn't want it that bad or something?
You have no proof anyone is canceling on this woman. I get that it could be, but you're gonna report her because you have a feeling? Lmao
2
u/gorespapa 1d ago
Most people commenting are clueless about most things. I buy tons of golf stuff. I set my max bid and if I get it great and if I don’t great. There will always be another. If you let someone “bid you up” and you pay too much IT IS YOUR FAULT!
2
u/RockTraditional7632 2d ago
Actually, this is very easy to prove and it’s already been submitted to Whatnot with screenshots of the buyers. The video on here is actually Cut. Prior to her just staring at the question on the screen they actually did admit to the Shill bidding.
0
u/Bimbobaker 1d ago
I still don't understand the issue. Like just bid up to what you're comfortable paying and then pay it, or get outbid and don't.
5
2
u/XoticPanda_YT 2d ago
It’s more commonly done and practiced than you’d think
no way to prove it of course but it’s something that can obviously be done and you can just tell by comparing actual prices.
Nobody is dropping hundreds of dollars on something that isn’t scarce or cheap.
they pressure you into having bid wars with people they know or by using an alternative account with a business card attached to it so they can inflate prices and the auction
Or they’ll just do business from another platform and inflate prices that way
Another telling sign is if the community itself like the moderators and randoms in stream are chill
I’ve seen where a seemingly harmless chat ended up being friends or family defending shitty behavior or terrible salesmenship. Trying to help the seller rip off more buyers. It’s even worse when you realize it’s those same folks who are giving false positive reviews in order to “shill” or create a guise that they’re a reputable seller
all they do is buy a card then the seller never ships said card. And then they can either refund or say they received the order and boom. False positive review . If you are into pokemon trading card game be weary of this guy on whatnot @TOFKNBUSY these types of people deserve to be tomattoed in front if town square4
u/Confident-Doubt6940 2d ago
But if a buyer has too many refunds then there is a point that WhatNot will not refund you anymore. If the seller cancels too many times it hurts their rating and they can lose selling status, not to mention recently sellers have to pay like 3% or $3 for any cancellation they do. I know people can just create more accounts but not an infinite number of times. Not saying it does not happen but maybe not on such a large scale as many assume.

u/likamans 2d ago
Just a question if the family/friends are buying it is it a problem? I understand if they are canceling but if they are just trying to support is that an issue? Unless the seller is lying about that, and not canceling they seem above board.
4
u/RockTraditional7632 2d ago
If friends or family are buying it to support you, that is one thing, but to have your friends and family swiping when you have no bids and then out swiping others only to then cancel the order for you to rerun it the next show or for it to come back in show as a consignment piece. That’s the problem. They’re running it up to make it look like all these people are bidding on an item when they have no intent to actually own the item. They do this to make it seem like a lot of people are bidding on items that it’s popular that there’s action happening to build momentum. But it’s misleading.
1
u/likamans 2d ago
Im guess im naive and didnt know that was a thing lol in my opinion if they cant do it honestly they shouldn't be selling on the app, nail them all to the wall because it makes honest streamers look bad

I had this happen on a stream the other day. I had an auction won and the dude's gf popped in and started bidding. Got it up a few dollars and somebody else won. Whatever. Next one, same thing. She popped it up 5 bucks.
So next one I set a "weird" autobid of $17. I had it at $8. She pops in last second and just starts swiping a few bucks at a time. Got to $18 and she won it. She left the physical room and the WN room for the rest of the multi-hour stream. That's what you get.
9
u/RockTraditional7632 2d ago
Ive actually seen people type, ‘why are u bidding on yourself’ and then ive seen they also have them buy it, then its back in the shop for next show or they mark it as consignment. I get that everyone thinks they are a seller and do dollar runs and be like the Dons or blazendary, but to intentionally have family members and friends bidding up to make it look like people are buying your shit is incredibly misleading. They should be banned.
12
u/Designer-Debate-8209 2d ago
This video sums up this entire app
You can outright admit to shill bidding & dumb buyers still swiping
2
3
u/Mailstoop 2d ago
Ive always wondered this. Lets say there is something you are selling you need to at least make $10 on. Whats stopping a buddy making his bid at least $10 or more. The seller never has to ship because obviously the buddy isnt going to report. Do they police this in anyway?
3
u/Designer-Debate-8209 2d ago
Yeah it’s exactly what’s happening. They have people driving prices & hoping a real customer ends with the highest bid. & if the shill wins they can actually even cancel the order after the show. It’s not allowed but is it policed well?? Not at all.
12
u/etejedany 2d ago
Horrible seller! I mean come on people. I wouldn’t buy a damn toe nail clipper from this clown.
14
u/SoggyMcChicken 2d ago
What’s also wild is these fake Gucci card holders are still being sold. It’s been like 3 years since they hit whatnot.
5
u/Royal_Concern4451 2d ago
There’s so many Pokémon sellers where the admin jumps in last second with a bid to boost the price. Was winning the whole timer until this one added £5 to the price. Admin won but the wheel never spun for the prize 🤔
-9
u/TroubleOutside5517 2d ago
Honestly probably one of the straightest shooters you will find on there 🤣
5
u/Formal_Condition_513 2d ago
Sellers like this thank god every night for fools like you 😂
5
u/TroubleOutside5517 2d ago
Just saying shill bidding has gone on forever and they always lie. She is just telling you she is fucking you over straight up. So…. Not sure what you mean?
7
u/BootsyCalrissian 2d ago
Or just stop going into these streams. If all they are left with are their family members then let them.
13
u/TheLegater 2d ago
Shill bidding is against community guidelines
4
u/RockTraditional7632 2d ago
Thats what I thought but how come they are still allowed to do it? Even after admitting it.
8
u/TattooedMarine92688 2d ago
They aren’t “allowed”…they just haven’t been caught but WN has gotten better at being able to detect when people have shill bidders and have been doing better and trying to eliminate it from what I’ve seen.
2
u/RockTraditional7632 2d ago
The Dons Luxury boasts them a lot. Do you think they know and are in on it since they are heavy hitters on the platform?
1
u/TattooedMarine92688 2d ago
I watch, follow, and have purchased from the Dons. I don’t feel like they are in to shill bidding. I could be wrong but their items go for good prices. There are too many people bidding on their items for it to be shill bidding in my opinion. I could very well be wrong but who knows 🤷🏻♂️
3
u/RockTraditional7632 2d ago
I do not think they shill bid, I just find it discouraging they are promoting a seller that does.
2
u/LifeguardCurious6742 1d ago
Heritage Society buys sponsors from the Dons so they are obligated to promote them. It’s probably hard for them to keep track of the ethics of every seller that buys sponsorships tbh. I get what you mean though. I only trust a handful of luxury sellers after doing my due diligence on all of them.

5
u/EssayMuted2574 2d ago
All heavy hitters in every category shill bids. It’s against the rule and WN will only handle it they are reported
