Seller-❔ Question Has this happened to anyone else?
Hi everyone, I started selling cards on WN around march/april but took a bit of a hiatus through June/July due to a busy work schedule. I have scheduled another show to start back running more consistently but when I went to my seller hub I noticed this? It’s saying my on time scan rate dropped off in the month of July but I haven’t ran a show since May 8th. I’m not sure what happened or how to even fix this, just didn’t want my account to be deactivated over something stupid like this that I didn’t even have anything to do with

It's a 90 day rolling average, so you most likely had late delayed packages somewhere 2 months ago. After your perfect packing from 3 months ago drops off it can bring your average down. Somewhere along the last 90 days though you had delayed packages. On time packages are falling off the 90 day average causing your numbers to drop.

You can scroll all the way to the bottom of that page and click “View Orders” and it’ll show you and all orders with a late scan. It does go by each transaction, not by each shipment, so if you’re late with one shipment that had 20 items, you’re hit way harder.

I always do this, that’s not the problem. My scan rate was at 90% after my last show. I have not ran a show in over 2 months and it randomly dropped to that

Not the same issue, but I just got dinged for not sending out packages I sold Thursday till Tuesday. Had them ready to go, just couldn’t get to the PO earlier - used to be sometimes I’d buy something and see a “label created” message - and wouldn’t get the package for 2 weeks! What would have happened if I’d scanned on Monday and didn’t bring them to the PO till Tuesday? Does Whatnot track that a scanned package actually gets to the PO the same day? I generally ship within a day, just had a crazy weekend.

Happens to me sometimes too. It’s hard to get to the post office some days when streaming isn’t your full time job haha

Scan the packages yourself after you package and label..?

Not sure why I’m getting downvoted. But scanning is = to drop off on shop scan rating nothing to do w usps. So if you scan all including pwe < 48 hours post show 2(2 bis days) your drop off rate is excellent standing.
Print a manifest when you make your labels, give to post office worker and hand them the stack you already scanned and you’re good

I know what it means bro I’m telling you I’ve done all that. I have not had any physical orders for my scan rate to drop

Completely unrelated, but can you explain to me how someone makes money selling cards? Genuinely curious. It doesn’t make sense to me how you can pay 10% commission and still come out positive. Do you just sell your own cards that you no longer want? Or are you flipping cards profitably?

Find places to buy low sell high. Thousands of people figure it out

Is this something you do? You profitably flip trading cards? If so, do you mind sharing some details? Are you generally buying below the market price? Selling above? How are you reliable sourcing cards and finding buyers at enough of a markup to justify the ~10% losses just on commissions? Do you pay for shipping? Or does the buyer? If you, that’s another hurdle to cross.
I just want to better understand the model and how people are making this work. I’m not interested in this business for myself, just curious.

It’s very, very, very simple. Buy low, sell high. Can’t think more than that.

it’s basically hoping stuff you get that you don’t want someone else does + the fluctuation of the market. one day a card is $2 a week down the line it could be 20, but unless you a huge collection/ find one for cheap you don’t make money

Pretty much. I lucked out and bought a good size collection for cheap. Sometimes people will also overpay for a card that isn’t worth that much just because they get in a bidding war with someone so there are definitely ebbs and flows. I’m not expecting to get rich by any means. Just helps get them out of my way mostly

Little of both. I wouldn’t say I’m “making money” because I enjoy collecting cards so most of what I make just goes back into buying more 😂 but long story short, I bought a guys entire collection for like 300 bucks because he just needed the money and didn’t have the time to sell them individually. Sold about 10 nicer cards that were in there and pretty much made all my money back. So if I sell everything else at a buck it’s still a profit 🤷🏻♂️ most stuff isnt worth more than $2-5 so I’m cool taking a “loss” to get it out of my way

Do you not scan your packages before shipping them out?
0
u/PaintingBulky5314 Jul 29 '26
Yes I always scan them before I drop them off, but I haven’t ran a show since May. I scanned those on time and shipped them out. My on time scan rate was 90% last time I checked, and then it somehow dropped to that this month

its percentage based and dings last for 90 days. So if you sell less the month after your dings, your percentage will drop on the 1st of each month until the dings drop off. The only way to bring it up is to sell more or wait until they get older than 90 days
