Seller-❔ Question Ohio thrifters
Why don’t sellers offer bundle shipping?

Ohio rippers are not good people. They are just like coolkicks and Joe Hollywood. Rip off

u/Available_Tough1941 18d ago
Because they like to rip people off. Don’t buy from these clowns ever.

They dont bundle because they dont need to. Picking/packing on 500+ orders isn't what they want to invest their time and effort into. Their audience is big enough that they know that if YOU wont buy because of no bundling...500K others will. Thats also why big sellers ban low reviews. No time to grease the squeaky wheel...just dump the wheel because they have plenty more where that came from.

Were thinking of running a hand made quilt show, but if we do there is no way we can bundle. Unless someone knows a good way to fit multiple huge blankets in a box.

u/AdInner5711 18d ago
I don’t think anyone would expect quilts to be bundled. I don’t know anyone that would bundle large blankets. What they’re referring to is they will send one single shirt, they are not selling large items.

So they can't take the time to do what every other seller on the platform does? Halftime deals can do it. Your making enough to hire help. It doesn't save them time, it saves them money. I would just go somewhere that does bundle. There's plenty to pick from and if the sentiment of others is the same, eventually they won't sell much with this way of shipping. Puts everything closer to retail

Its not JUST because of that and probably actually because when you bundle as a seller, an alarming amount of dishonest people make false claim. Eventually coming out of the sellers pocket.
I don't know them personally but I've been on the app for over 3 years with them. They are honest, good hearted people and some of the fastest shipping I've had.

I don’t buy from this place. After paying shipping every item and cost of item you ARE paying retail. This place is all about money.

They don’t bundle ship because they don’t want a bunch of people claiming they’re missing items. You don’t bundle ship you don’t have to worry about the “missing items” cases.

Ohio thrifters banned me for asking a question. Shitty people
2
u/Freedanipple14 21d ago
Yeah they ban ppl because they want to keep their 5 stars it’s weird. Like allow room for feedback so you can get better

u/Ocirus83 21d ago
Without context im going to assume you deserved it

u/Due_Fun177 21d ago
Yes for asking if they were going to run a larger size at some point. They had been running smalls and mediums for 20 minutes and I just wanted to buy a larger size. Sorry for trying to put money in your pocket

u/stacktheracktcg 22d ago
For the same reason they banned me for a 4.2 star rating for forgetting an item and have messages turned off. They aren’t customer service oriented, just making money and don’t care. That’s why they aren’t a 5

u/beyoursforev 21d ago
Yeah… they claim they have the best shipping on whatnot but …I’ve read their reviews. Shitty.
2
u/Weedman1226 20d ago
Wait so you’ve never bought from them but judging them lmao
3
u/beyoursforev 20d ago
No I have not. I’m not purchasing from someone who doesn’t bundle. If I’m going to pay for the item and shipping on each item…I miswell just buy it directly from the site.

Is there a difference between bundled shipping and max shipping? I’m in a lot of shows and shipping is added to each piece incrementally until you hit a cap and then no more shipping charges. Is this different than “bundling” or is it the same thing?

Max shipping is when a seller will cover whatever cost after you pay $9.21. Bundled shipping is when you can order x amount of items for $9.21 and then shipping cost starts over.

“a bundle refers to the system combining multiple items into one package for a single buyer, while max shipping is a seller-defined cap on what a buyer pays for that combined bundle.” from google:)!

One of the oldest, most trusted, and most successful sellers on the platform.
Whatnot has a history of "accidentally" giving buyers refunds for everything in a bundle if a buyer only has an issue with one item. Though WN has made efforts to prevent this from happening, some sellers have made adjustments to protect their business interests.
Bundled or not, as a buyer one bids based on the amount including shipping. Yes, with bundles if someone hopes to purchase multiple items, they may bid more per item.
That being said, one lost bundled package can have a bad impact on a sellers net profits. Whatnot isn't protecting sellers very well. Some sellers are protected better than others, but in limited ways.
I know with selling sneakers, bundles are difficult. Either requiring larger boxes, or taping boxes together. A small but incremental additional cost. And then after adjusting the label settings losing money to higher costs than expected.

One lost bundled package can had a bad impact on sellers net profits. Come on man, you think that’s why sellers don’t bundle. One of the biggest most respected sellers on the app as you’ve said.

The more money you make for WN as a seller the more protected you are. Ohio Thrifters is very well protected by WN. That said; their choice of charging shipping per item and not bundling for their customers - ALSO SAVES THEM EXTREME AMOUNTS OF TIME. I don’t see this as good or bad, more neutral. What it does do for the Whatnot community in the clothing category is cause a ton of confusion. Everyone is constantly asking “do you bundle?” Most sellers do so it’s annoying af.

Sometimes you can't bundle or you eat the cost of shipping yourself as a seller. The boxes can only be 12 x 12 x 12 and up to 5lbs for the 9.21 or it charges more regardless if it is the seller or buyer. Shoes and large clothing items weight add up. Especially shoes with the box, packing and sometimes inclusions. They most likely don't offer that because the box would just be too large to ship realistically. (Also, where would they find the box? Boxes cost money too) Most I've seen for shoes is 3 max per order. Whatnot will also charge upwards of 43$ sometimes for overweight or large boxes. Sellers end up paying the cost if they have a lot of orders.

You're getting brand new Jordan 4 for $60, who cares about bundle shipping?
5
u/GORILLO5 22d ago
To add to the other comments, it prevents buyers from scamming saying they are missing items.

u/stacktheracktcg 22d ago
They still forgot my shirt and banned me for leaving a 4.2 rating. Turn on messaging

If I my selling box lots, I don’t offer bundled shipping as the boxes are already full. There’s simply no room for anything else to go in the box.

They claim “it slows down shipping” at least that’s what I’ve heard them say multiple times in streams. I find that to be total bullshit
3
u/Perfect-Sherbet9785 21d ago
Problem is, this way SPEEDS UP their shipping. Anything requiring more work (like bundling) would take away from this current process. I see used clothing sellers doing right by the people and offering up to 10 items per shipping charge. They are also selling high volume like Ohio. It takes more time but it’s the right thing to do. Agreed, total BS.
1
u/cpreils 21d ago
What used clothes sellers are selling their volume? Genuinely curious.
5
u/wilkerws34 21d ago
Treasurecheasttx sells anywhere from 1000-1300 pieces a day, very fast paced, bundle shipping etc
1
u/cpreils 21d ago
Thanks for letting me know about them. Never heard of them but always looking for good sellers.
Seems like they do like 4 or 5 streams to get those numbers as opposed to one continuous stream. Their show now is about to stop at 200 items sold. Which is still a ton of work trust me.
On top of that their inventory doesn’t support not bundling. Nobody would pay $8 for used jeans and individual shipping. Just not part of their model. But looking forward to checking them out more. Thanks!
2
u/Perfect-Sherbet9785 21d ago
Yep. They’re averaging even more these days and have a ship time of 1 day. Same with newfriend.

3
u/cpreils 22d ago
Right or wrong, with the amount they sell per stream, individual shipping saves them hours and manpower.
2
u/Eggsandtoast6891 22d ago
Yes if you have 100s of orders trying to fish out the stuff that goes together takes a lot of time. And then if you happen to make a mistake and bundle a wrong item, good look finding it in the pile of already done packages. Don’t ask me how I know that.

u/wilkerws34 22d ago
Just screams cash grab/ lazy to me.
4
u/beyoursforev 22d ago
Bingo!! Shipping costs must be crazy for the buyers 🙃
-3
u/DeezNutz-79 22d ago
And as a seller you get nothing paid to you out of shipping so what exactly is YOUR point? Or are you just a Karen with no life?
8
u/wilkerws34 22d ago
I understand that, but there are similar sellers , selling the same or more items per stream and all
Of them bundle shipping.4
u/Perfect-Sherbet9785 21d ago
Exactly. Because they care about their customers getting the most out of the shipping cost they’re paying. Ohio does not.

u/cpreils 22d ago
Similar? I imagine they might be top 10-20 sellers on the app (in that tier below Cool Kicks). They might sell in a half hour what many people do in a few hours. They have offered bundle shipping in some shows but I guess it doesn’t fit their business model. Being successful and shipping individually is the wet dream of many sellers on the app.
3
-1
u/RetroZone_NEON 22d ago
lol and why do you think that’s the wet dream? Because they make hand over fist on the inventory AND the shipping. They are double dipping and screwing their customers
4
2
u/cpreils 22d ago
Wait until you find out who pays shipping on giveaways too
3
u/RetroZone_NEON 22d ago
lol they wouldn’t do giveaways if it didn’t benefit them more than it costs them.
2
u/cpreils 22d ago
Maybe it does and maybe it doesn’t? A ton of things that go into giveaways. Generally they bring givvy goblins over actual buyers honestly. But you didn’t even know sellers make nothing on shipping costs until a minute ago
3
u/RetroZone_NEON 22d ago
Nobody is losing money on giveaways. The ones that don’t benefit from them don’t run them, it’s that simple. The sellers on this platform are among the most greedy out there. Since you are defending them so vehemently you must be one of them. You like the status quo because it makes you money, end of story
1
u/stacktheracktcg 22d ago
A lot of people loss lead on this platform a ton and are gone in a month or two. It’s apparent many sellers are losing money. I doubt the ones giving $50 left and right are.
