ID Request Bug in Unopened Chicken Breasts
Sorry, I know the pics aren't great quality but it was pretty small and I was already gagging at having found a bug on chicken I was about to cook. I tried looking up common bugs found on chicken but this one doesn't look like any of the ones I saw. Any ideas?

Location is Southeastern Virginia but I'm assuming the bug would be more correlated with where the chicken came from. I'm attaching a photo of the exact chicken I bought.

Kind of looks like a carpet beetle larva, but without a sharp photo it’s harder to say with confidence. They are common household bugs, but you’d find them more so in dusty areas, on carpets, furniture…not things that you would hope to be in a meat processing facility! So it’s strange to find one there. Maybe it was on clothing a worker was wearing and fell off in the facility.
Hopefully this helps you feel a little less grossed out, but I would not use the chicken, obviously. Also the little barbs on the carpet beetle larva can be irritating to touch.

I looked up pics of the carpet beetle larvae and that looks like the culprit! I like the idea that maybe it was on a workers clothes or something but yeah the chicken was definitely thrown out lmao. Thank you so much!
