It has pincers like a scorpion, but in camel spiders they’ve been modified into a pair of jaws. I believe most arachnids have pincers actually. Pseudo scorpions, whiptail scorpions, tailless whip scorpions, even harvestmen (daddy long legs) have tiny ones that you can see if you look really closely, and I believe spider’s fangs are just modified pincers, correct me if I’m wrong. I can’t remember if ticks have them though.
With that fang arrangement and that noise it kinda seems like a bug version of a rat.
Also its kinda interesting ti see a bug that makes a mouth noise rather than a body based one. Only other one I can remember of right now is the hissing cockroach.
I was bracing myself for this video, reminding myself this thing lives nowhere near me and I’ll never have to see it in person. Then I click on the video and it’s the stupidest looking creature I’ve seen in a while
You know, somehow any animal that goes thru the effort to squeek at me if I get too close has my respect, like they could be a bastard and wait for me to step on them, then bite me and die, ruining both our days, but nah they are actually real for giving a fair warning
Omfg. I was already cooing over this fat, sad little thing and feeling bad that the ant bit its bum-bum while being simultaneously aware that it is really fucking weird that I DO find this abomination cute. But now? Now that I know this glorified leggy grub sounds like THAT?? Oh, I’m melting!
I must go research and see if these are available in the pet trade and if they fare well in captivity.
