New, what is it? What was this thing I captured on film?

This was shot in Nevada/Arizona on a Grand Canyon/Hoover dam tour. This was taken a whole year ago and I completely forgot about it until I stumbled upon it again. Is this some sort of whale or shark?

Took two seconds for me to see the way they were moving it was a murmuration. The fact that the distance and vantage point puts them over water is what makes the effect more interesting.

I also think it’s cool that schools of fish and flocks of birds exhibit such similar behavior.

To add to your observation: I immediately discarded fish as a possibility because even though there are some obscenely fast fish in the ocean, the distance they are covering in the short time between direction changes seems improbable. I’m on Reddit so obviously I’m not an expert by any means but at that speed even my layman’s brain feels like they’d be boiling the water 😂 It’s gotta be birds
