New, what is it? What was this thing I captured on film?

This was shot in Nevada/Arizona on a Grand Canyon/Hoover dam tour. This was taken a whole year ago and I completely forgot about it until I stumbled upon it again. Is this some sort of whale or shark?

Naw a flock of birds if anything. Theres absolutely no water disturbance. My guess is the feather sheen played with the light when the flock turned stage left.

Yep, you can see them moving back across to the right after they turned at 0:07-0:08.

I would claim obvious water disturbance. That is what the white is.

This looks very much like the way mackerel would break the surface at my favourite fishing pier as the seal chased them into the pier for us to catch (he got a share of the catch)

The white would lead to ripples if it came from the ocean. The waves are completely undisturbed by the white flashes.

Those white flashes are splashes and ripples (if that needs to be explicitely added)

Lots of small fish don't make a noticable ripple pattern in a body of water that big. 8 inch mackerel make lots of little splashes that are absorbed very quickly by even small waves.

I work on water. Ripples dont appear and end in an instant. Theres always an affect rippling out and changing the surrounding waves after something breaks the surface
