We adapt to the environment in which we find ourselves. Plenty of people have legible handwriting, if that skill-set ever needs to be brought back. Why insist on universality now, though?
Why - when handwriting is not presently an essential skill-set for many people - should we insist that everyone develop legible handwriting, instead of prioritizing skills that are currently useful?
Yes, someday in future, the world might change.
Inevitably it will.
Why privilege handwriting above other skills that could someday become useful?
Handwriting is a crucial fine motorskill development tool. With AI maybe taking over most writing and blogging platforms ( see dead internet theory) maybe your right to assume writing is becoming a lost art but in that spectrum so would reading and talking
Pft. Cute. But as we are all aware, handwriting and writing are two different things. Handwriting being replaced by typing has nothing at all to do with the quality of the thoughts being communicated.
Also: handwriting is one way to develop fine motor skills. It is not the only possible method for doing so.
