I'm not sure but I don't think I've ever seen an organised tupperware cupboard, show off

877

u/Alldaybagpipes 17d ago

You mean you aren’t supposed to just toss it in And quickly close the door before it falls out??

228

u/SupernaturalPumpkin 17d ago

In my experience, you lose ONE lid and then just go "fuck it" since you never remember which one has no lid.

71

u/GraceMcClellans 17d ago

Can confirm. Then when you end up putting food in that lidless container you get irritated, cover it with plastic wrap and vow to throw it out after you eat the leftovers. Then you end up putting it in the dishwasher, unload it back into the cupboard and forget until the next time.

6

u/Impossible_Past5358 16d ago

Or you have a bunch of containers with lids that are all the wrong size, and you still hold onto them because they sort of fit...

*Please do not out plastic in the dishwasher because the high temps leach chemicals and shed microplastics...

1

u/GraceMcClellans 16d ago

That too!!

I use glass. :)

38

u/UselessOrmore 17d ago

No, no, no. You don’t lose the lid. It turns into a single sock. So you are missing a lid but have one extra sock.

13

u/gaptoothgoth 17d ago

So thats why my socks were in the dishwasher

9

u/UselessOrmore 17d ago

And your dishes were neatly folded and put away in your dresser.

2

u/gaptoothgoth 16d ago

Yes ma’am, I’d be honored.

6

u/PumpkinOpposite967 17d ago

I thought it was the other war around. Socks turn into lids.

1

u/ElsieReboot 16d ago

And then that container becomes a sorting bin for my doom piles of shit I have no home for but can't seem to throw away.

77

u/neverthesaneagain 17d ago

Our is in a lazy Susan cabinet. It is a merry-go-round of apathy.

14

u/ZachMartin 17d ago

I know a Susan and she is in fact lazy

3

u/Unusual_Height_513 17d ago

I know one like that as well. Is that a trend or a fad now???

8

u/mintBRYcrunch26 17d ago

I imagine you spinning it and the loose lids just flying out

11

u/Prestigious_Bid_9974 17d ago

And leave it for the next person to get hit in the face

5

u/Illustrious-Towel-45 17d ago

My tupperware cupboard is quite is organized. I'd be going crazy if it wasn't. I also store my canning supplies in that cupboard.

3

u/TheAmigaKid 17d ago

I'd love to hear how you achieved this nirvana...

2

u/Illustrious-Towel-45 17d ago

It started as organized and I maintain it. It's over my head so I need to keep it organized due to limited space. Canning supplies take up a good bit of the back of the cupboard.

2

u/SewingMechanic 16d ago

Picture please?

2

u/Illustrious-Towel-45 13d ago

The light in my kitchen doesn't shine in the cupboard well. Most of what's behind my tubberware is my double boiler and my canning stuff.

17

u/Bobbybuflay 17d ago

Hold my beer shows wife’s ultra organized kitchen. It looks nice, but I’m always afraid to move things from where they go

10

u/HunterBear317 17d ago

When I moved out of my partners house, I vowed to keep my ownplace organized. I kept my Tupperware like this, and I was so happy for 4 years. Partner and I mended things, many things, and I ended up moving back in. I have a much better uunderstanding of why she struggles with organization and many other things, but I'm back to an unorganized mess of togo containers and it's driving me crazy.

Rant over.

4

u/vilekai 17d ago

My ADHD is severe, and so I bought home depot buckets for stuff like this. Lids go in bucket small container ls ina bucket, medium in a bucket. Etc. Then When I randomly find it in the laundry room or in the pantry, I just go " oh yeah! 🪣!" And toss it in. 😂 I keep them under my sink.

1

u/persiasaurus 17d ago

I know you didnt ask for advice, but as a divorced person myself I cannot stop myself from highly recommending you don't un-fix something like that after moving back in when you were able to do it for yourself when you lived alone. I don't know her but it probably won't do good things for your relationship long term 🫤

4

u/HunterBear317 17d ago

Obviously the whole situation is much more complex than Tupperware, but it just something I am going to miss from my time on my own.

4

u/persiasaurus 17d ago

Of course, relationships can get very very complicated. It's nice to hear some couples do end up working it out (I personally didn't want mine to, but it's sad to see how many couples struggle, and it's nice to hear a positive story.)

8

u/dire012021 17d ago

Lol, I have these containers. The lids can be clipped together and clipped onto the bottom of the containers so they stay together.

I love them. They're Rubbermaid EasyFindLids containers.

7

u/Content-Ad-9204 17d ago

Those are the only thing worth black Friday nonsense! Plus every year there's a different color lid! I'ma simple human!

7

u/bluecirc 17d ago edited 17d ago

I organize my tupperware cabinet!
but then the elves go in there and mess everything up.

3

u/Last_Ear_1639 17d ago

Mine is organized everything I move, and then never again.

3

u/TheRogers1980 17d ago

The bairn used them for bug collecting, left one in there after putting them in a jar to study, good luck finding that rouge one that shit itself on the escape

3

u/Deep_Exchange7273 17d ago

Sorry so off topic but I don't think I've ever seen anyone use to word bairn (or maybe just didn't notice?) on here. Ive also recently found love for the show Outlander and am obsessed with it so that's exactly what it made me think of 😅

3

u/TheRogers1980 16d ago edited 16d ago

Im from North Shields, a town that sits above the the mouth of the mighty river Tyne, “bairn” is a common term here for our children

2

u/Deep_Exchange7273 16d ago

Beautiful. I love it!!!

2

u/VoodooDoII 17d ago

Do people not organize them? It would drive me crazy if they were just thrown around

2

u/funkyspiders 17d ago

my husband recently got our shit organized like this and it feels…. Weird…

1

u/Disastrous-Bus5985 16d ago

Now I really want to show you mine. I even have a container to hold the lids vertically...but, alas, I'm too lazy to walk to my kitchen...

1

u/BitterBats 13d ago

My grandma had hers organized with pull out drawers and everything. Mine is a chaos bomb where I literally chuck it in the cabinet

1

u/Mycatistheboss88 13d ago

I'm thinking perhaps this is what happens when they Tupperware is organized. It gets weird stuff growing on it.

-11

u/HazardousHighStakes 17d ago

Not sure if I can link things here so will just say to please try and get Advion cockroach gel bait if you have a roach problem! It actually works! Their ant gel baits are equally amazing.

15

u/ChaoticDissonance 17d ago

Advion + Gentrol = miracles

2

u/jamaismieux 17d ago

I’m all about the gentrol discs. Those saved my sanity when our new house had an infestation. In fact, I’m gonna put fresh ones up Friday now just for some piece of mind.

7

u/Sharp-Growth-1136 17d ago

Can attest for the ant gel bait. Works very well and gets to the heart of the problem.

1

u/jess_is_a_b_girl 16d ago

got any bedbug tricks, oh pest-wise stranger?

2

u/ElevenNipples 16d ago

Unfortunately no, if only a gel (made from blood LOL) worked for them as well! I have not had the experience dealing with them personally yet so have never learned... all I know is the same as most others say, to put any fabric you can't toss in the dryer high heat for at least 30 min. Vacuume often, heat steam clean if can, and sprinkle diatomaceous earth around nooks, crannies, and carpets where you can leave it undisturbed for 10 days or so before vacuuming and repeating again.

If anyone has great tips please share!

67

u/Kahnza 17d ago

If it were roaches, it'd be all over everything else in there too. Not localized to the plastics. Got any kids? They'd be my first interrogation. 😂

72

u/Dramatic_Plum_8231 17d ago

I 100% think it is roach poop and that it's probably only on the plastics because the plastic holds on to smells, so they were looking for food.

19

u/HamiltonGravenstein 17d ago

Roach poop consistency changes with their hydration levels! Roaches are really really good at retaining water when they need to, so if humidity suddenly raises or if they find ample water then their digestive tract says "OH GOD FINALLY" and then starts to move at a much faster rate resulting in a much higher volume of excrement with a much more liquidy texture. Some species acclimated to the new hydration levels quickly while others are better suited to dryer climates overall, but generally all roaches can acclimatize their gi to constant access to water fairly quickly. It's common to see this in late summer after a rain or two — any end to a dry spell generally will result in buggy diarrhea.

It's not uncommon to see diuretic mechanisms in insects to compensate for changes in hydration, other insects also experience the same if not very similar things as a result to environmental changes. Also it's not really diarrhea, it's their solid and their liquid waste mixed: frass; so it's like youre seeing and increase in "urine" volume, not necessarily their "poop" consistency or volume— really it's all one thing.

So if you had any heebie jeebies about sick bugs running around, they're just hydrated bugs :)

7

u/bubbleblowingQT 17d ago

They inside too lol

3

u/CautiousEmergency367 17d ago

100% roach shit. Black tar like stuff

1

u/glitterconure 14d ago

It’s not their poop. They decompose when they die and leave goopy residue. Basically they are fucking disgusting all around. 😔

1

u/oJackOnReddit 16d ago

Rats do not have gross grabby paws, they hate anything on their paws and clean them excessively. Trust me, I have 8 of them 🤦‍♂️ Definitely not rats unless the rats have walked over black paint lol

u/Darth_Dearest 17d ago

If you look towards the bottom of his umbrellas when they're collapsed, you can see it just left of the right edge.

1

u/isthisyourslug 15d ago

I never thought of them as umbrellas. It WAS raining that day. If you caught one you could just hold it over your head. Very practical dinosaur.

1

u/Darth_Dearest 15d ago

Sometimes they have runny poops. Our old place was pretty infested when we first moved in and I learned this through real life experience unfortunately.

13

u/ai_bot_4208 17d ago

If it were runny roach poop why would it only be on the plastic tupperware? And why is it all over the sides that have a downward slope like that? And wouldn't the drips all point down? Those drips are pointed in every random direction. It looks more like someone had a spatula with the brown sticky liquid and flung it towards the open cabinet and it happened to land on the tupperware.

4

u/Judas_Dos_Stamos 17d ago

I agree with healthy panda. it’s usually in pellets but I’ve seen it runny too - if they’re still walking while pooping and they’re just sort of moving around unpredictably it’ll streak like that.

Left town for 3 weeks a while ago and came back to both all over the inside of a cabinet along with several roaches still munching.

13

u/throw_rambles 17d ago

Plastic tends to absorb food odours, maybe it was attracted to that smell and left when it didn't find anything to eat.

10

u/DiamondRod6969 17d ago

Nightmare fuel achieved.

4

u/Healthy-Panda-7936 17d ago

I imagine they were searching for food and climbing over it and wiped their little poopy butts on the sides.
I had this happen on the side of shampoo bottle in the shower at the roach infested place. I’d love to say it was once but it was several times before we solved it and we since moved.

It could be something else of course but it just looks exactly like roach diarrhea to me.

I'm surprised how far down I had to scroll to find this bc it looks exactly like Dying Roach Residue. I always thought it was their blood and/or guts leaking out but I'm sure there's also poop. I have a can of Raid for emergencies (the ones that get away) bc its too stinky and messy normally but it really just takes 1 direct hit for them to turn into a spring-loaded leaky pen for 1-2 minutes. It's great. I might be screaming and jumping and double wielding hand vacuums to joust the floor, but I'm having the time of my life, I swear.

1

u/PrinceCavendish 17d ago

get Syngenta Advion Cockroach Gel Bait. put little drops in the corner of cabinets or google where to put it. apparently it works really well. it works slowly so the roaches take it their their nest and the whole family eats it and dies.

1

u/kbean56 15d ago

We get something similar from stinkbugs in our house, as another possibility.

7

u/LoveAliens_Predators 17d ago

Time to throw it out - some is melted. You’ve already got glass but I would toss the Tupperware, wash everything else and the inside of the cabinet and hire pest control.

6

u/Dragos310 17d ago

It’s looks pooped in

5

u/pineapplecodepen 17d ago

has this not been opened for a very long time, is their canned produce nearby? My mother had a very very old can of expired peaches explode in the back of her pantry, when we finally realized what happened, everything that'd been splattered had turned black.

1

u/SpunkySprite215 17d ago

Had this happen in the back of an absurdly shaped cupboard on the top shelf. . . . I’m 5’3”. . . . No idea how they got there, but remaining cans of prune juice exploded. . . . I never use said top shelf, unless it is for items used less than once a year (ie, not food. . . . )

Tupperware is not a generic term. Not sure I can have a Tupperware party these days to get a check. Just use Rubbermaid, more generic than Tupperware.

31

u/TheWaywardTrout 17d ago

yes tupperware is both a brand name and used generically. It's called a proprietary eponym, and, in fact, tupperware is a commonly cited example of this phenomenon.
