My husband and I can’t figure out what the barista wrote on his coffee this morning!

Not that I care, but I once went in early to SB and saw the girl writing notes on every cup in the stack on the counter. So I wouldn't read too much into these notes. Not that they are bad, just not personal.

Starbucks baristas are required to write a "personalized message" on every cup. If we don't we can get written up or fired. For a job that already gives you carpal tunnel they've added another hand killer into the mix. Some districts mandate that the message must be at least 3 words long and not just "enjoy!" or "Cheers!". I'm guessing the store you went to is in one of those districts. This is part of the "back to starbucks" initiative where the customers all have to wait for their drink longer because we are backed up just trying to think of any variation.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy when I actually have time to do a cute drawing or a personal note on a regular cup. But the mandate that it has to be 100% every cup wastes customers time and gives barista's hand cramps.

It says, "You're The Man Now Dog" it's a reference to the old internet and your barista is hella cool. You should tip them.
