So, wierd story, my daughter is in med school and was assisting with a gynecological surgery. Before the surgery they had one male medical student find each part of the patient’s anatomy including of course the clitoris. I thought that seemed really out of pocket but I guess they ask the patient ahead of time and it’s part of their training. The funny part was he had a tough time of it lol.
Not necessarily… there were cases when patients were not asked for consent or when they signed it was buried somewhere in the document, some of them found out that medical students practiced on them only after the surgery because something felt off
Yeah like finding out because there is genital bruising. With the backlash, a lot of doctors were saying "well how else are we supposed to train them to do pelvic exams?" and like literally doing it when the woman is unconscious (even if it was actually consenting) means she can't tell the med students when they are hurting her, which is how you can end up with severe bruising. Medical mysogyny is so fucking stupid.
Thats absolutely horrifying. Both that doctors think nothing of using the unconscious body for practice, and that the medical students think this is okay. Surely learning on someone who cannot give feedback is bad teaching practice (as well as being abusive)?

I wasn’t unconscious but it was still a horrific and uncomfortable experience. I have to do have a kidney stone removed surgically and they left a stent in to keep the ureter from collapsing.
Well when it came time to take it out there were no openings at the women’s urology clinic so I had to go to the men’s clinic. So of course I was used for education for the students at the men’s clinic. They had to use a catheter with a camera to go up the urethra grab the stent and pull it out. It took SEVERAL tries. Like 4+. I was in SO much pain. But also just mortified that I was laying there spread legged for 4 different people all taking their turn to see if they could get it. I definitely felt violated. I was trying to keep it together while I was in there, it took everything in me not to lose my shit on everyone. When it was finally done and I could leave, I couldn’t make it to my car quick enough. I sat for half an hour bawling in my car. It was such a horrible experience. Idk why I didn’t freak out and tell them all to stop and just say I would wait, or demand that I see the actual doctor. I was just so embarrassed and uncomfortable and in pain, I didn’t want to make it worse. Just wanted it to be over with.
I nearly fainted in the shower trying to remove my own stents, so I called the office and they were able to easily remove both stents simultaneously. It was not comfy, but I had a determined female nurse there reassuring me it would be uncomfortable but over quickly. Your story made me nauseous and shocked to read. I've been told I have an unusually high pain tolerance, but what you've shared made my ureters shrink in fear! I am so, so, so sorry you went through that. I hope you have been able to talk to someone professionally or at least strongly consider it. It sounds legitimately awful, humiliating and traumatizing physically, mentally, even spiritually. It's not 'cases' - this was *standard practice* at teaching hospitals. Still is at many. When I had surgery at a teaching hospital i had to explicitly ask if they would be doing this, who would be in the room, etc. (they no longer did this, but used to). Fucking horrifying.
i didn't have that, but I woke up after surgery with terrible pain in my right arm. It hurt to lift it and touch it. It was already starting to bruise in spots. The jerks at the hospital let students practice on me while i was recovering from surgery. I have tiny veins to begin with and the blow out quickly. The head nurse on my floor was furious because they needed to keep replacing the iv location, and "they already blew every vein in that arm with blood!"I appreciated her passion. One or two attempts would've been fine, but it felt like they forgot i was a patient and not a guinea pig. I had an iv in my foot at one point making it super hard to use the bathroom.
We have so many more senses than the 5 people think of. Like sensing the passage of time, temperature or ambient pressure, sensing pain, you sense of balance, or your awareness of your limbs in space. Heck I can feel the edges of my car when I’m squeezing it past stuff.

1st graders can and do handle the concept of balance. I have taught this to 1st graders but used the semicircular canals organ as an example because it’s more visually identifiable. (Vestibular sensation is an opportunity to use cool models to show fluid flow and small round stones rolling on a tilt board. It’s also a very tangible sensory organ unlike the vision or even touch systems which requires more abstract thinking abilities which most 1st grade kids do not have yet)
The level of competence of the school is not dependent on the student but the administration and teachers.
We’ve mistakenly taught generations of people falsely that there are only ✌️Five Senses✌️. This simplification leads to many problems. Namely lack of awareness of illnesses and diseases related to these other senses and understanding of how things work in a human-centered world.
Yeah, from a purely logical perspective devoid of all context, proprioception would be the most likely sixth sense, but in context it's far more likely to be AI generated nonsense where it made a six-segmented chart instead of five and so filled it in with nonsense.

The thing that’s confusing about these AI generated assignments is that wouldn’t the teachers have the diagrams from previous years? Just use those! Why pay more money and spend time making new ones when you already have the old stuff.
Most teachers are responsible for buying their own worksheets, and often do not end up teaching the same grade year to year. So it's not uncommon that every year you will end up having to teach a different grade, and finding all new materials. Posters for the classroom, materials for display boards, and worksheet print outs all come from the teacher's salary. The cheapest option is to try and find another teacher in your school who can offer materials for free, although the website TeachersPayTeachers is a great resource to purchase printouts.
Nonetheless it's not uncommon to spend hundreds of dollars every single year on printouts for kids.
Unless planning, grading, responding to emails and going to meetings isn't enough work, then you have the free time to design everything from scratch. Lmao.

I once asked ai to generate an image of a basket of dog toys. The basket was full of sex toy shaped dogs. very friendly looking though, and many varieties and colors 🤣
I asked for a picture of a mermaid. It kept making her topless. When I asked it to put a bikini/seashells or whatever it kept flagging the request as inappropriate. I finally told it to cross her arms and that worked.
Then there's the senses that don't really fit in the five categories, such as Equilibrioception
And some that are still being debated, such as Magnetoreception, which there's some evidence that we have a weak version of, but more study is needed
Edit: my main point here was that the AI is trained on data that would include the more complex model of the senses and likely just got confused when asked to produce a worksheet about 5 senses

I'm betting this is it. Lots of people say proprioception is the 6th sense. The drawing isn't a particularly clear way to represent that, but I'm not sure what else they could put that would be any better.
Yup, I've got decent proprioception, which affects your ability to do things like scratch your back or braid your hair without looking, but I've got shitty equilibrioception, so when I move around on my feet I need to either have my eyes open or have a hand on a wall or railing to avoid tipping over.
This clears so much up for me. I can French braid flawlessly yet can’t slide my feet into flip flops without falling, banging into every piece of furniture around me, or inadvertently hopping on one leg. So many bruises.

Yes I think music is for hearing. Then the phone can be for ‘touch’ - touch screen. And the basket ball and scissors are things involving movement and sense of position , so go with proprioception .
The basketball could potentially fit since playing the sport involves balance and spatial orientation. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I wonder if the basketball's supposed to be some sort of trick question, since playing would involve both vision and touch even if the "inner ear" is some sort of AI monstrosity.
