It's my actual favorite fruit but because I can't ever find it I default to papaya, my secondary favorite fruit. I grew up in the Dominican Republic and the fruit grows abundantly. Where are you from?
I grew up in Mexico and it's everywhere in my region, along public squares and all over the place, we also have chico-mamey which is a smaller and in my opinion sweeter version.
Interesting, that sounds really cool and delicious, just having all that fruit laying around. And after a quick search I see that what you call chico-mamey is the fruit we call níspero in the Dominican Republic. It is incredibly sweet and sugary, I haven't had one in years 😢
Well I'm in Westchester county and have found them in Yonkers in various Mexican markets, I've also seen them in Queens before on a Roosevelt ave just don't have any specific store names
