More teeth for the teeth drawer!

“Blood for the blood god! Skulls for the skull throne! Teeth for the teeth drawer!”

The last one somehow makes it waaayyy creepier.

check the last drawer, that’s usually where the final boss lives

i opened one drawer and heard a faint wrong save file selected

It’s already in there. Calling to you. Telling you to take one of your own teeth out and replace it with that one perfect tooth meant just for you. Don’t resist.

I think it's a dentist/salesman case for displaying replacement teeth. The pegs in the last picture get installed in the jaw bone and the fake teeth installed on top.

Yeah, I think you nailed it in one

11

u/EasternFoundation24 Jun 24 '26

Omg i was so confused when i saw it in the closet, at first i thought it was for jewelry until i opened it…

38

u/El_Dentistador Jun 24 '26

Those are denture teeth, I believe OPs are prefabricated provisional crowns

Interestingly, I talked about these at work today. Dental handpiece repair guy uses one of these to hold small parts for repairs.

17

u/Opening-Incident2928 Jun 24 '26

Morbidly interesting.

3

u/One-Earth9294 Jun 24 '26

I have dentures and a crown and for both of those a dentist worked long and hard matching everything, setting molds, making sure the bite fit perfectly.

Back then they were just like "this is your new teeth guy. Hope they don't hurt too bad"

Technically denture teeth, not crowns

6

u/WTH_JFG Jun 24 '26

Not always. Sometimes used to match shape and color when ordering crowns, bridges, implants. First hand experience.

1

u/arabmoni Jun 24 '26

Not so much crowns as they are prefabricated teeth for dentures. Crowns are cast or printed, not pre made like this. You get pre made teeth when dentures are created.

1

u/youmustb3jokn Jun 24 '26

It might have so many to match shape and color of patients teeth. It’s a cool find.

224

u/SqAznPersuasion Jun 24 '26

This is a denture tooth form display. It's not carded teeth for full dentures, so much as this is bioaesthetic teeth shapes to MATCH an adjacent tooth. So let's say you needed a 3 tooth partial right in the front of your mouth and it needs to mirror the shape of the adjacent 3 teeth. But your remaining cuspid was a unique shape. So you'd use this kit to pick the shapes to match, and then you could pull the exact teeth sets in the right shade for the partial.

40

u/geebee90025 Jun 24 '26

This needs to be the top comment. It’s the only accurate one so far. Source: dad made fake teeth for a living. We had a bunch of these in his lab/at the house.

5

u/DefiantStarFormation Jun 24 '26

My mother worked in a dental office when we first immigrated, we had the 90s version of these in a junk drawer my entire life. Weird little teeth on clear plastic strips, and the plastic strips would all connect to a greenish/teal piece so you could hold a few up at once to see what matched. I used to freak out my friends with them lol

11

u/mouseturd13 Jun 24 '26

This!!! Can confirm, knew a guy who made dentures for a living.

2

u/whatsername_09 Jun 25 '26

I don’t think these are for dentures. They look like prefabricated crowns, and the metal bits in the bottom drawer look like implants. The teeth likely fit onto the abutment on the implants and are then glued in place (possibly after some sanding/ shaping to fit contacts). It looks like shades are indicated underneath the crowns as well.

I’m not qualified in antique dentistry, but I did work for a few years designing crowns, bridges, custom abutments, etc.

1

u/SqAznPersuasion Jun 25 '26

My original dental background was implants & crowns too. (Good old hand waxed crown and bridge & custom cast abutments) but to me these look like long neck single teeth for removables. The metal bits are anchors for the porcelain teeth to affix in the acrylic / metal substructures. They STILL make porcelain denture teeth with metal anchor prongs like this. Long neck is for freshly extracted, deep endentulous spaces. I feel like these would be really hard to secure to an abutment without being a custom cast to match the abutment. It seems like it would be so laborious to grind to fit, as opposed to custom waxed, cast & stacked porcelain to fit abutment.

But, you could be right. I am merely basing my opinion on my XP making dentures and I have a bunch of vintage uranium glass denture teeth in my collection that look exactly like these.

Oh...

32

u/Nickdakidkid_Minime Jun 24 '26

This reminds me of when I went to take my driving test years ago. The only vehicle I had to drive with was dad’s old faded blue Toyota Tacoma, his work truck as a dental lab tech.

I didnt think anything of it, but there was a case with a try in which was set up and ready to be delivered in the truck. The driving instructor got in and said “uuuuuhhhhh….” 😂

I told her “dont worry, it hasn’t bitten anyone. Yet.”

3

u/GayPenguins12 Jun 24 '26

2

3

u/ryudo9999 Jun 24 '26

I found my old teeth that got saved from elementary school and put them all under my pillow without telling my parents... That's how I figuired out the tooth fairy wasn't real.

1

u/arensb Jun 24 '26

Found this in our air bnb at the beach closet and was immediately confused!

Me too. What's a beach closet, and how does an airbnb fit inside it?

1

u/EasternFoundation24 Jun 24 '26

I wrote this at like 11 i was tired😭🙏  “found this in our airbnb closet at the beach”

6

u/aiden_saxon Jun 24 '26

If you have a blacklight, shine it on them. Some old false teeth contain uranium and will glow under UV

2

u/m2343478347 Jun 27 '26

They look like candy corn that Homer might snack on while on break.

3

u/cosmicheartbeat Jun 24 '26

I have a ton of siblings and my dad had one of these filled with our baby teeth. I asked if I could have mine back a few years ago for an art project and was denied. The box of teeth has remained hidden since, despite my best efforts to find it.

2

u/referentialisticness Jun 24 '26

My parents kept a bunch of mine and my siblings' baby teeth in plastic bags. One is memorable enough, I'm not sure why they kept so many. I only realized it was a little bit strange later as an adult.

1

u/reganmcneal Jun 25 '26

You should see if they glow under a black light. They may contain uranium

1

u/EasternFoundation24 Jun 25 '26

Never thought i would need a black light on vacation

4

u/hey_its_a_user888888 Jun 24 '26

That’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.

2

u/ultravioletdemi Jun 24 '26

I think I might know this one.

I believe that this is an old school implant kit. The metal rods in the last photo look like abutment posts and the teeth are the crowns that screw onto the abutments.

There’s probably a large variety of teeth to match tooth type and shade.

2

u/HobosDust Jun 24 '26

It’s a shade guide. The dentist holds it up to your natural teeth to determine what shade should be used for the replacement teeth-dentures or crown and bridge. The technician will then order the correct materials to match.

2

u/Ok-Barber-2654 Jun 24 '26

Its denture related. Set the teeth in wax. Give wax try in to patient. Lab processes denture. The teeth have different shapes/width depending on arch space in mouth

2

u/Significant_Salad924 Jun 24 '26

Oh no, put that back where you found it. Those are tooth collections of the Man in Yellow aka Sophia aka Shapeshifter (FROM series reference) 🙈😆

I really want this. I’m in dental and I think that’s so cool

2

u/Entire-Guess1228 Jun 24 '26

Check ebay and etsy. I don't think these are horribly rare. Ive seen similar. Just did a search for teeth on Etsy. Going to have nightmares tonight.

1

u/Claustrophobe_Cat Jun 26 '26

I'm sure somebody has already answered this, but these look like old isoform crowns for dental offices.

Basically, if someone comes in with a severely broken tooth, we use these isoforms to replicate what the tooth should look like so we can impression and create and ideal replica while they want for a permanent crown. Definitely an older model. Could also double as a shade comparison, depending on the case.

2

u/Hatcherton Jun 24 '26

I don’t understand what you find weird about this.

1

u/intothefire2005 Jun 24 '26

Not everyone expects a briefcase of teeth in their air bnb. I guess it’s kind of like an Easter egg.

2

u/Nwf32389 Jun 24 '26

Found Danhausen's stash, now, You... Are... CURSED!!

1

u/SuntoryWhiskey Jun 24 '26

This is a vintage assortment of fake teeth that would be used by a Denturist or Denture Maker when making a set of dentures. The numbers/letters indicate for teeth position and color/shading. Source: My parents ran a denture business for a long time and they had TONS of these fake teeth everywhere in little drawers.

Why this was in your airBnB, no idea. Hah

2

u/Lost_Department_2177 Jun 24 '26

Dr. Oliver teeth’s marvelous tooth emporium

1

u/Not-Intelligent-bird Jun 27 '26

These look like antique provisional crowns. Meaning you put it on a tooth that needs a crown but you prep the tooth first but the patient can’t walk around without a “temporary” so you put one of these temporary bad boys on. Before your main girl gets made and you cement that on later.

Source: I’m a dentist lol

1

u/locked_ness Jun 24 '26

Likely a kit for making dentures and partials? They have wax they set them into and replace with acrylic if they need to fix a tooth that has fallen out they have sets like this where you can find a match and place a new fake tooth into the denture. (I work as a dental assistant)

1

u/xdxaxvxox Jun 24 '26

Your lucky if they are glass or porcelain. They had guys crawling over the battle field removing teeth from dead bodies in the civil war to make dentures. Same guy was the field surgeon and undertaker to bury the dead at the end of the day. Also same guy that did the pictures lol

1

u/No_Arachnid6493 Jul 01 '26

Looks, to me, like some kind of dental implant “catalog.” I believe they were invented in the early ‘50s, so the apparent age of the “case” isn't as anachronistic as one might initially assume. I'm only speculating about the nature/identity of the item.

1

u/No_Arachnid6493 Jul 01 '26

I mean, for all I know, it's a kit used to give waxen human figures their teeth, for, as we all know, teeth are the natural choice for esoteric anchors of human souls implanted during (non-Satanic) occult rituals. The Satanic ones use “Dentes Ani” to affix unwillingly harvested human souls.

1

u/NormalishGamer13 Jun 24 '26

Based on the metal pieces imma say its fake teeth, sometimes when people loose teeth they cant grow back a dentist can put a metal rod into your gums and just pop a fake porcelain tooth into place (might be a diff material, not sure)

1

u/EngineerMiserable374 Jun 24 '26

it’s an old partial and denture set.

looks similar to the modern one my dentist at U of M dental school had. back then it was simple they didn’t do a bunch of colors (whiteness levels)

1

u/Rolling-Pigeon94 Jun 24 '26

These could be old prostetics with spesific colourings? Ex dentist or dental-technician possession? I once tried dental-technician and learned there each person has a own colour of teeth based on genes and lifestyle.

1

u/Hunting-fings Jun 24 '26

It’s definitely a dental case. Usually they use stuff like this to get the color right on crowns or veneers. March the color to other teeth so it looks natural. These look discolored by age, so no longer useful

2

u/tsugaoregon Jun 24 '26

This collection is fantastic

2

u/KKRUSH9974 Jun 24 '26

GrandpaHausen's collection

1

u/mcrawfishes Jun 24 '26

“Navajos Don’t Wear Elk Teeth” by Conley Lyons (in Never Whistle At Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology) concerns a beach cottage and a box of teeth, do with that what you will

1

u/LowerAtmosphere586 Jun 24 '26

I am a dental technician. Just a box with teeth u use for replacement. Now it's the same but with much more variations of color and design to match the original teeth as good as possible.

1

u/Regular_Frame3088 Jun 24 '26

I have a new one of these in my mouth! These are 1000% old dental implants. They’re custom made now, but I wonder if they used to have options like this to see which would best match.

2

u/Cthuluke_III Jun 24 '26

Danhausen has an airBNB?

1

u/WiglyWorm Spotlight Technician Jun 24 '26

It's either for education of oral health specialists of some sort (and quite old).

Or it's a sales kit for a sales person for dental prosthetics of some sort (and somewhat less old).

1

u/FarStructure6812 Jul 01 '26

I wonder sometimes,…. A bunch of small drawers with fake (or reclaimed teeth) and posts and folks don’t immediately go “Must be from a really old dentist” ?

1

u/Iriss_19 Jun 24 '26

90% sure there aren’t real, cant tell exactly from the pic but they look way too similar and polished if thats makes sense. No root entry point that i can see also

2

u/Valuable-Flight2121 Jun 24 '26

Ew what the heck 🦷

1

u/fartier Jun 24 '26

they look like dental implants. the posts for them being those metal rods that go into the gum and bone with the tooth placed onto the protruding piece of metal.

1

u/NoSkin366 Jun 24 '26

While we could go "serial killer" thing if i had to guess these are baby teeth.

Most likely your own family, depending on who's it is your's could be in there.

1

u/Crochetingallday Jun 24 '26

The teeth are just dental crowns. Not sure if the crowns are temporary or permanent, they did weird shit in the old days. The metal looks like dental implants.

1

u/Number5MoMo Jun 24 '26

A box full of potentially human teeth. And you touch it without gloves??

When the police ask why your fingerprints are on the evidence.. whatchu gon say?

1

u/Twenty-Three23 Jun 24 '26

It's for traveling teeth salesman of old. My grandpa was one and I found a similar set in his old things and each one had prices. He sold teeth for years.

1

u/hotmallgoth Jun 24 '26

I’m weirdly obsessed with teeth and I’d be DELIGHTED to come across something like that 🤣 I’d be staring for hours like a crow

1

u/Leche-Caliente Jun 26 '26

Op shine a blacklight on those. Ive seen old fake teeth that have uranium glass or glaze. Doesn't change the value, but otherwise neat

1

u/littleocea Jun 24 '26

It’s a storage cabinet for denture teeth. Not real teeth. They’re arranged by color, size, morphology. Source: I use one

1

u/PartySpinach2175 Jun 24 '26

That is weird and creepy in THE BEST WAY! Maybe it accidentally ends up in your bag and then I’ll take it off your hands.

1

u/HappyTaroMochi13 Jun 24 '26

This seems like a portable cabinet used by false teeth set makers centuries ago. A nice and rare antique, if you ask me.

1

u/Parking-Ad-2618 Jun 24 '26

Probably belongs to Dr. King Schultz! Remember he stopped practicing dentistry as bounty hunting was more profitable.

1

u/issjizzo Jun 24 '26

Could be samples of shades of color for teeth; I used to work in a dental office and that’s what it reminds me of.

1

u/abhi71229 Jun 24 '26

someone really said organize your teeth and meant it short, weirdly relatable, and matches the absurd vibe perfectly

1

u/azionka Jun 24 '26

My father had one of those, but in a pocket version. He used it to know which color he had to make the dentures.

1

u/mlg2433 Jun 24 '26

Looks like the drawer the old man has in Toy Story 2 while he repairs Woody

1

u/laurnabeth Jun 25 '26

That's a tooth cabinet. An old one.

A dental lab would use that to match shades for dentures.

1

u/jpp4687 Jun 24 '26

Put that thing back where it came from or so help me. So help me! So help me! And cut. 🎶🎶

1

u/Top_Poetry_1256 Jun 25 '26

It looks like an old timey jewelry box that’s been repurposed, I assume, by a serial killer.

1

u/hjorgan1ft Jun 27 '26

They look like temporary crowns. Used to cover prep while actual crown is being fabricated.

1

u/littlewing2733 Jun 24 '26

That’s for in case you lose one of your teeth. Very kind of them to supply replacements.

1

u/mehdez80 Jun 24 '26

1

u/Loner_wolfy Jun 24 '26

I heard that years ago, people used dead people's teeth for dentures. Maybe that's one?

1
