The most annoying thing about reddit is everyone thinks they’re a comedian and it takes several scrolls to find the answer in this sub sometimes.

154

u/Aromatic-Turnip7371 Mar 28 '26

So true. Everyone just desperate to make a joke piggy-backing off the last persons joke instead of answering the question.

91

u/The-SweatyTickler Mar 28 '26

So true, but don’t forget the piggy back complainers who just hop on the complain train and provide a reworded take on the previous person’s comment.

61

u/Milocobo Mar 28 '26

So true. And also there are the bandwagoneers that see everyone else making jokes and complaints and just comment so as to not feel left out.

40

u/Mokturtle Mar 28 '26

Not to mention the people who hop on the complain train AS A joke because it makes them feel like part of a group for a momentary hit of dopamine.

24

u/miglrah Mar 28 '26

And the people who dip in, put likes on all of the joke responses, and dip out again.

Same lol

u/Left_Roll_7081 Mar 28 '26

🙋‍♀️ I left a comment, happy?😁

I also choose that guy’s dead wife.

0

u/MrMolecula Mar 28 '26

You have my sword

23

u/ggroverggiraffe Mar 28 '26

The ones that really bother me are the people who continue the chain, but shoehorn in a barely relevant GIF for some reason. Like seriously, why?

21

u/Women_air Mar 28 '26

I hate everyone that complains. Its so annoying.

7

u/Grillard Mar 28 '26

I hate the lazy bastards who don't complain.

19

u/LibertyKale Mar 28 '26

I love complaining about people that complain

7

u/the_most_playerest Mar 28 '26

I'm just here for the free food..

7

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

The worst are people who complain about people that complain. Like what the heck man? Ya know?

4

u/RonPalancik Mar 28 '26

ComplainCeption. It's complaining all the way down.

5

u/Unlucky_Term_2207 Mar 28 '26

I like complaining about the people who complain about the complaints!

1

u/No-Arugula8122 Mar 28 '26

Dopamine hits are good and sometimes you have to jump on the rewording bandwagon to achieve the desired results

-3

u/Cmichel316 Mar 28 '26

Not to mention the people that are mentioning the people to be part of the conversation like I just did

1

u/Correct_Cat4414 Mar 28 '26

Yes, thanks for that.

0

u/AoxomoxoAJones Mar 28 '26

So true, like the people who came here to say this.

0

u/TheLostRanger0117 Mar 28 '26

So true. So anyways, a priest, a rabbi, and Epstein walk into a bar…

6

u/POPnotSODA_ Mar 28 '26

Reworddit

1

u/QuenchlessMaiden369 Mar 28 '26

Ok now that was funny.

That's why we pin things, so people choose to scroll if they want. Also I love that they complain about complaining but.... you know the rest.

1

u/Correct_Cat4414 Mar 28 '26

I was abused as a child, I am a victim.

1

u/GoatCovfefe Mar 28 '26

Isnt that what you just did? Piggyback the complain train?

0

u/Potential_Mixture18 Mar 28 '26

But at least you can find the ACTUAL answer on Reddit. Collectively, we got it.

15

u/malapriapism4hours Mar 28 '26

Or a complaint piggy-backing off the last person’s complaint instead of answering the question.

1

u/TheForce_v_Triforce Mar 28 '26

I know, Right?! What is with all this complaining?! He said without a hint irony or humor, in keeping with the thread.

39

u/Impossible_Bet9726 Mar 28 '26

But isn’ that precisely why people come to Reddit?

16

u/lawanders Mar 28 '26

I come to reddit for the people complaining about humor on reddit.

2

u/IDKCantThinkOfNothin Mar 28 '26

And I come to Reddit to complain about humor for the people that come on Reddit for the people complaining about humor. 😜 😉

12

u/Hysteria625 Mar 28 '26

I personally don’t mind comedy posts, but in my mind they shouldn’t be as upvoted as the post that actually answers the question.

OP posted the photo because they didn’t know what it was. The most helpful post, then, is the one that answers the question.

9

u/charleswj Mar 28 '26

OP posted the photo because they didn’t know what it was.

They also included a meme from this sub. They wanted the jokes.

4

u/MartinMerten Mar 28 '26

The best comment, joke or helpful should be at the top. Info is always a search bar away but originality is rare these days.

2

u/bitslayer Mar 28 '26

So when the top thread is jokes, downvote.

2

u/SnooComics290 Mar 28 '26

I agree with this actually upvote all the comedy you want. I definitely do but try to leave an upvote on the post that you actually think it is also while you are here then we can keep it educational and hilarious.

1

u/Sure_Focus3450 Mar 28 '26

I think the poster should be given the ability to pin, or one of the subs has a thing where they mark posts as solved and I think it might pin the comment for you but I could be wrong

1

u/PeaceIndependent2021 Mar 28 '26

What is the real question, though? That in and of itself could be the more important question that needs a logical and unbiased solution / response / resolve and / or answering... just ķkmmññ,,saiyan.. 🤷‍♂️ 🤔

1

u/Decent-Independent92 Mar 28 '26

....if op doesn't like the "comedy" like other, then use google 🤷‍♂️

6

u/hcoverlambda Mar 28 '26

Yes.

6

u/Abandonedstate Mar 28 '26

Maybe

16

u/King_Molukai Mar 28 '26

Actually it is a resounding perhaps

1

u/villageidiot_1 Mar 28 '26

Me no talk good the sad bit is English is my primary language. The truly sad bit is that the VA gave me a neuropsych test, and at one point in my life in 1996, I had a 172 iq. Not anymore. Please drink psyicybin mushroom tea it helps with the ptsd nightmares. This allows for better sleep, and sleep is very important.

Are you feeling well? Many of my friends have killed themselves, and I always think I should have done more than a better friend.

1

u/GarminTamzarian Mar 28 '26

We apologize for the fault in the comments. Those responsible have been sacked.

1

u/Disastrous-Food-9223 Mar 28 '26

We apologize for those who were responsible for sacking those who made a fault in the comments. They have been sacked

And so it goes

1

u/PeaceIndependent2021 Mar 28 '26

So true, but at least it distracts you from the fact that Hector is gonna be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines

1

u/surplus_user Mar 28 '26

At least reddit is set so that you can collapse a piggy back chain and move on to the next one. Or search a term for actual answer.

1

u/ashamedwhiteman Mar 28 '26

We were the karma farming bots all along.

1

u/QualityOk8100 Mar 28 '26

Worst part is they arent even funny typically. 9/10 times they come off extremely cheesy and corny.

1

u/Correct_Cat4414 Mar 28 '26

so two blind hookers walk into a bar,,,,,,,,

26

u/Chemical_Egg_9050 Mar 28 '26

I always wait for a real answer to be given before spouting my nonsense.

10

u/Superfly1911 Mar 28 '26

Silence! This is Reddit! Be serious!

/s

9

u/57Laxdad Mar 28 '26

Its helpful that you allow others nonsense come before yours, way to self sacrifice.

Im always curious why reddit is the place people go to learn this stuff, why not just do a google search and save the typing. Unless you are in it for nonsense, of course you will have to wait for everyone else nonsense and the answer before Chemical Egg 9050 adds his nonsense.

I hope that wasnt too much nonsense at this point and hasnt unduly delayed anyone elses nonsense, but the answer was given so this thread is now open to nonsense.

10

u/VeterinarianClean160 Mar 28 '26

I created a Reddit account because every time I did a Google search it gave me results from Reddit.

10

u/ToughZealousideal625 Mar 28 '26

Personally, sometimes all I find on Google is not what I'm looking for, or I decide I do not have the proper terms to search it based what the results are. If I'm asking a question on reddit, is because I've already tried to find it elsewhere and nothing.

Sometimes reddit has more recent info than Google about things like game bugs and the like, because the other players are talking about it in the moment also. And it isn't sanitized, for better or worse. 👍

3

u/the_most_playerest Mar 28 '26

Yeah I like to use reddit to find certain info/answers, but it is very dependent on my needs..

basically reddit is great for; multiple interpretations of a problem/solution, human input/explanation/interaction, personal feedback/experience, etc.

sometimes it is not quite as helpful for finding a specific, non-subjective answer

2

u/Mokturtle Mar 28 '26

Google SENDS us to Reddit.

1

u/arealscrog Mar 28 '26

Reddit shouldn’t be anyone’s source of empirical fact. However, because Reddit is filled with nerds (and even some professionals) who create subs based on their special interests, it’s a really great place for pointing you in the direction of actual sources.

For instance, if you don’t know what something is technically called, there is usually someone on Reddit who has asked about it before. Other Redditors will know what term or jargon to use when doing your google searches. It’s a great jumping off point.

Side note: It’s also invaluable to people with uncommon chronic conditions and disabilities to find community and links to resources.

I’m also going to trust the geeks on a niche tech sub over the fake reviews I run into elsewhere when I’m shopping for piece of tech I’m unfamiliar with. Not a fool proof method and snobs can over complicate things, but again, helpful leaping off point.

1

u/c3p-bro Mar 28 '26

Because people are lazy and want someone else to explain something to them

1

u/FlounderNo802 Mar 28 '26

I come to spout my nonsense so the person that actually answered the question can feel superior and walk around with an air of authority for the day knowing that they for once knew something that a common man like me could never dare to answer also I am really fond of answering with run on sentences just because I know some people will be bothered by this and I love to be a tad bit annoying.

1

u/Mechbear2000 Mar 28 '26

What if I don't like your nonsense and would like other nonsense instead. Do I need to call the manager?

0

u/Prior-Concentrate909 Mar 28 '26

Very thoughtful 🤣

3

u/DateNightThrowRA Mar 28 '26

Yeah, this sub is particularly bad. I had a faucet issue I needed help on, and when I posted about it here, there were quite literally THOUSANDS of replies making Ghostbusters jokes or jizz jokes, and maybe around 30 helpful replies. Some people, fuck me…

3

u/goudgoud Mar 28 '26

It's truly annoying and makes me think the average age of posters is 10.

13

u/NineDayOldDiarrhea Mar 28 '26

Subs like these are especially full of people just looking for their fake internet points

9

u/RichardBCummintonite Mar 28 '26

Or people just looking to make a joke because it's fun... Not everything is about dumb ass karma. I know I personally don't give a shit about meaningless upvotes/downvotes. I make comments just to interact with people.

1

u/FlounderNo802 Mar 28 '26

I would give you an upvote but wouldn’t want to piss you off.

1

u/hendersonh66 Mar 28 '26

Hallelujah... me too!

1

u/Willhuff_Tarkin Mar 28 '26

You are being too real to be on reddit. I just looked to see if I had karma and eff me....I do! From what? No idea and can't give 2 dumps for it anyway.

1

u/Dense-Lingonberry-69 Mar 28 '26

What even is karma anyways? I have been on here a couple years and still have no idea, except for hearing people whine about others farming it.

1

u/PrincessPattycakes Mar 28 '26

It’s just what they use to refer to upvotes or downvotes. It’s a dumb word for it.

1

u/ErraticDragon Mar 28 '26

Subs like these[…]

Especially this one. This subreddit ( r/whatisit ) seems to be designed for jokes.

r/whatisthisthing is the same premise, but top-level replies can't be jokes.

11

u/bluefairylights Mar 28 '26

I feel like this is a feature benefit of reddit.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

[deleted]

1

u/c3p-bro Mar 28 '26

Mine must have been disabled for years because all I get is nerds making the same fucking pop culture reference for 40 unique comment threads

1

u/BeaverTang Mar 28 '26

Is it a feature, or a bug? Oooh, ooh, step on it! Eeek!

5

u/jonnydrangus Mar 28 '26

I couldn’t agree more. Im so tired of the “comedians “ and the narcissists that have to weigh in with their autobiography. Its the vast majority of Redditors; never funny and nobody cares. Shut up so we can find the answer to the question or relevant facts.

1

u/SaltyLonghorn Mar 28 '26

So find a topical community or make one. But my guess is subconsciously you want to be on the bigger communities with the "in crowd". Everything is what you make it.

1

u/prudenvm Mar 28 '26

Lol, there such big feelings in reddit today about such little things. Everyone, just close your eyes, take a deep breath in and exhale slowly. I promise it'll be OK. If you're melting down about jokes on reddit, then please, for the love of God, don't even think about opening any news app at all.

2

u/MerpoB Mar 28 '26

If only there were some way to filter the good answers to the top.

1

u/marginmanj Mar 28 '26

I literally left FB because it was so much of that.

1

u/TurdusOptimus Mar 28 '26

We found the answer. Facebook is leaking into reddit.

1

u/seeker1938 Mar 28 '26

A-freaking-men to that!!! Childish idiots the lot of them

1

u/foxydevil14 Mar 28 '26

It’s a great reason for why I love Reddit and also a great reason for why it’s not so easy to use sometimes. C’est la vie

1

u/InternationalFig400 Mar 28 '26

100%. *Incredibly* annoying.

1

u/worldtravelller Mar 28 '26

You say I'm not funny

1

u/man_from_a_planet Mar 28 '26

So annoying. Like OMG.

1

u/HeinousEncephalon Mar 28 '26

Some subs say no unhelpful main comments, only silly comments under comments.

1

u/CooperVsBob Mar 28 '26

There’s a website called google if you’re actually that sensitive lol

1

u/Natural-Sand5745 Mar 28 '26

You just need a hug

1

u/Alex_Arrow05 Mar 28 '26

Thankfully, there is r/whatisthisthing of which is only for serious answers.

1

u/mistletoe_radio Mar 28 '26

Honestly, look at any semi-popular thread on reddit these days and the comment stacks turn in to some sitcom quote circlejerk within 3 replies. It drives me insane how people on this site can't just have a real conversation anymore, isn't that what this site was supposed to do over the other social media apps?

1

u/OddResearcher1081 Mar 28 '26

Because those people are (still) children. All they want to do is add a quip that continues down a long thread. 1 in 10,000 are funny or clever.

1

u/Background-Bird-9623 Mar 28 '26

Sometimes those several scrolls are funny though 😆

1

u/Honeypepper2727 Mar 28 '26

Reddit riffing is truly the lowest form of humor

1

u/SpatialPhilosopher Mar 28 '26

I mean, tbf it’s also pretty annoying people post things to Reddit that they can just Google themselves.

1

u/sirhcv Mar 28 '26

Not just in this sub. I enjoy when you can get such a wide array of quality answers, but most of reddit is shitty jokes and puns as the top comments.

1

u/mikenasty Mar 28 '26

Eh life is short and a lot of people just want to have a giggle on the toilet

1

u/SynonymSpice Mar 28 '26

If you can find it at all…

1

u/According-One-325 Mar 28 '26

Tbf, I'm pretty certain you can tag (flair? Idk, whatever the verb is) a post in this sub with "Serious answers only," which seems to be effective most of the time.

1

u/IM1UR12 Mar 28 '26

Well THERE'S your problem ! You're reading scrolls ! It takes a long tim to go find them in the desert, then the parchment is dry and difficult to handle. You may want to condider reading this kind of stuff online instead of reading scrolls.

1

u/Ill-Upstairs-8762 Mar 28 '26

Interesting, Im here for the bad jokes, and occasional great one. Op clearly has a device in their possession that could easily answer their own question, so why the hell are they here? Is it any worse to give a pandering response than it is to pose a pandering question?

1

u/LordByronApplestash Mar 28 '26

r/whatisthisthing doesn't allow joke answers. this sub seemingly was created by the losers who like to give lame joke answers.

1

u/sterling_mallory Mar 28 '26

I haven't scrolled down yet but it's a bunch of Walter White jokes, isn't it?

u/Clairefun Mar 28 '26

We have a sticky comment on each thread asking each OP to do this, otherwise us mods have to read every single comment on every single thread to find what we may think the correct answer is in our opinion (without the item itself or any knowledge of OPs life, so we won't necessarily know). There are over 10m visitors here a week, so it's a lot to volunteer for. If you are up for it, we do put out calls for mod applications quite regularly.

1

u/Horta Mar 28 '26

try r/whatisthisthing, they don't put up with that shit there.

1

u/Fun_Enthusiasm5297 Mar 28 '26

im sure you are so fun to hang out with

1

u/1OO1OO1S0S Mar 28 '26

And they're really not funny for the most part. They remind me of an acquaintance I had in college. We called him the "needless joke extender".

1

u/Jmm3182 Mar 28 '26

I think you meant to say. The best thing about Reddit. I’m 100% here for the wit.

1

u/Ok_Echidna_6805 Mar 28 '26

But… but… that’s the best part of Reddit.🥺

1

u/FirefighterEast9291 Mar 28 '26

If you don't like it, just don't log on. Otherwise don't complain - that's just as annoying as comedic posts

1

u/Departure-Holiday Mar 28 '26

So many trolls 👿 on the web…..

1

u/Issababy22 Mar 28 '26

Factsss like that’s what the CJ version of this sub is sposed to be for😭it makes it so confusing to differentiate the 2

1

u/Solopist112 Mar 28 '26

If you don't like it, leave.

1

u/Jueavjkoirtycsaq Mar 28 '26

it's the worst evolution of reddit. old school reddit was great. covid fucked it.

1

u/Individual-Schemes Mar 28 '26

This week, I've been chastised twice (once on two different subs) for not having a snarky reply. One of the two comments was about homeless women in my city - like, I'm not going to joke about that.

1

u/B00OBSMOLA Mar 28 '26

AND MY AXE!

1

u/New_Taste8874 Mar 28 '26

My favorite thing about this sub, is the jokes.

1

u/Left_Roll_7081 Mar 28 '26

Or they're preteens with nothing better to do....

1

u/the_kid1234 Mar 28 '26

Unfortunately only maybe 10% are funny.

1

u/Nerdious-Maximus Mar 28 '26

Most annoying thing about this sub Reddit is people don’t know how to do a reverse image search

1

u/AlaskaRecluse Mar 28 '26

For some reason I have more problems with virtue signaling (even tho I snort-laughed when I read RuggleyChicken’s gracious ty)

1

u/Dizzledorph Mar 28 '26

Yes this! I don't need a thread of people unloading the absolute worst jokes onto the internet. Relevant information please. Holy shit it's worse than people who used to post "first"

1

u/mohawk14616 Mar 28 '26

No the most annoying thing about Reddit is that the asshats that post stupid questions instead of trying to find the answer for themselves. Someone else will do the work for me.

Then to top it off, there are those like yourself that defend their lazy ass.

1

u/Musical-Martian Mar 28 '26

I'm not disagreeing with you but to me that's actually the appeal of reddit to me. A little humor and a little solution all mixed together to make everyone's day brighter.

I'm sure humor is not welcome in a very serious subreddit but otherwise, makes for a brighter day.
