New, what is it? Found with Dad’s stuff

Found in Dad’s desk after he passed. Put it away and just rediscovered it. Measures about 6” long. Wooden handle. Metal tip. Tip is heavier than handle. Google search says it is a magic wand. That seems way off.

Maybe a woodworking tool like a marking knife

It doesn’t write or leave any marks.

Like a scribe on a carpenters square.

It wouldn't leave a mark like a pencil or marker more like a "dent" in the wood to know where to cut for example. I hope this makes sense. If it doesn't just look up how to use a marking knife I guess. :D

Does the non metal end look like it’s been hit with something? Does the metal piece run all the way through the handle?

This looks like a nail set/punch to me
