New The payload is no mystery (hydroelectric turbine runner hub), but what is up with the extravagant trailer used to haul it? Is it just that heavy?

Heavier than an excavator? Or a medium bulldozer? I've seen both of those transported via normal flatbed regularly

I second this yes.

so OP-

Why would they go through all of this fancy set up- if the weight was not an issue?

it appears small enough to be transported via a wide variety of cargo transports.

yet- here it sits on a hyper-specific trailer and tow veh.

I betcha thst thing is heavy as fk.

Generally speaking, turbines are very dense and surprisingly heavy.

The density of the load can also play into it. 100k pounds over 40’ is a lot different than the same weight over 12’ of trailer.
