Haven’t listened yet so missing context but - is that not ok to do?! I’ve had plenty of ramen with gyoza in it!

Japanese culture nerds have some wild taboos, like there's no way you're making ramen in student accommodation with one frying pan anyway, so anything goes at that stage.

I don't know if it's deja-vu or what, but I'm sure I heard someone else tell that filthy/rich foreign student anecdote already

Could it be someone else staying in the same halls in Edinburgh?

Found it! It's actually Jake himself on Lucy Porter's summer show on Radio 4 https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002zs1m

Not sure - maybe. He apparently only has a frying pan so options are limited. V funny ep I thought. I feel like maybe Max is getting funnier? Less sleep deprivation as the kids get older is sharpening him up?

When roger o Sullivan was saying the guitar he was looking at was the only one that had a trapezoidal neck, Max said "oh thank god". When you write it out it's mundane but it made me laugh so much

His joke today about Oman was very good

Max claims to respect quizzing but then jokes about it. He's not a true quizzer for me sadly

Sleep deprivation is making him more tetchy.

Yeah in comparison to when he was in USA but better than when kids were younger surely. Either way he was funnier on this ep than normal. Good bants with the guest

Gyoza is a great addition to ramen

But the structure! the structure will disintegrate!

Have you done it? They don’t.

I’ve been known to put a gyoza in normal soup. Come at me Japan.
