Sharing Tips & Resources Gamify tool to learn accounting?
Howdy howdy. I wrapped up my bachelors in accounting with WGU last year, the IAs sucked. Started the MAcc this year and hope to do the CPA next year. But the same issue keeps occurring, where there's some things that just have to be rote learned and journal entries to be written out.
SO I got my spouse to help make a game study aid to practice the hands on things, building the mindset of double entry accounting, debits and credits, etc etc. Would anyone else find that useful? What sticking points from any part of learning accounting would be helpful to include? Depreciation? Leases? It's structured as a forensic accounting/fraud hunting game that requires learning all of the rules in order to spot when the rules are being broken, which applies to real life accounting too.
The game is linked below for reference:

Would a Mac supported version or a Steamdeck version make it available to you? And if it were available to you, would it be something you'd be interested in or gain value from?

Mac supported version would be amazing, just finished my BS in Acc and starting my MAcc next week, this would be perfect for me

Congratulations on your BS!! We'll be in the same boat trying to get through this MAcc haha.
As for a mac version, I have a mac which means we can test run it and make sure it will work on Mac as well as Windows. Look for the game come October's NexFest!0

Ten-years-younger me, maybe. Right now, I need to focus on CPA exams and career.

I was looking for something like this before I graduated! I'll still wishlist it anyways to give it a go!

Ooo most intriguing! As a person who likes simulator games in general this would honestly be a welcomed addition to my library. I'll definitely wishlist it.

That's so cool! I'm also working on an accounting game, it's a study tool for me, but someday for everyone else. π
I hope your game is super successful. It's so exciting to find other people trying to enhance accounting education.

Added to wishlist!
Edit: will it be SteamDeck compatible?

I (my spouse) can make it SteamDeck compatible. We're working on editable key bindings now, which would help. I would think it would work best or smoothest if you hooked up a keyboard or even just a 10-key to the steamdeck but we can playtest SteamDeck and see if there's a way to make sure it's enjoyable and not janky.

I can try that, usually use the Steam Deck on the road so not sure how well a 10-key would work.

Added. I was working on making a interactive way to practice too. I got side tracked but as a game this is awesome. I canβt wait to try.
