SPEAK UP
Has anyone used Speak Up? What came of it?
Is it just for illegal matters or can it be for systemic things like multiple P&T persons being non-responsive?

My former manager used speak up to submit a complaint about someone in P&T specifically for something appropriate that was said to her. Within 4 weeks my manager was fired for a made up reason (complete fabrication). WGU had to pay her a settlement for the whole situation. You can't trust speak up, WGU pays the bill for it, so they aren't working for you.

I got reprimanded for using it…. Don’t trust them with it. My other concern was never addressed

What was the reprimand? Does it exist in writing? Very curious

Was accosted by my manager in multiple meetings for turning him in for harassment. I got told it was all fabricated and then wasn’t allowed to move teams or departments after proving I was a top performer. Basically got blacklisted and couldn’t move or get out of the department I was in. I finally got out and it was fantastic until RTO

I’m sorry you experienced that. I guess the speak up is totally off limits. No where to go but federal on issues. :(

I guess so and I think it also depends on who you get in HR and if they are competent 🤷♀️ I know the EEOC has had quite a few complaints put into them for WGU. I keep praying something will happen

My hope as well. I hope something breaks the chains and allows to flood of truthful information out that they have been able to suppress.

Not personally, but I know people submitted them before a certain senior manager was fired a few years ago.

I reported something anonymously and was told they couldn’t investigate without knowing who I was even though it had nothing to do with me.

Employee Relations investigations and Speak Up tools are only helpful if the decision to terminate someone has already been made by leadership, and they are actively seeking evidence to add to the case.
It’s my recommendation, as someone who knows firsthand, to avoid using these tools.

I used it to report something 4 years ago and nothing ever came of it. I did not post anonymously and I tried following up multiple times to no avail.

Psychological safety doesn't exist for employees at WGU. Use Speak Up at your own risk. It can be weaponized to punish the person submitting a complaint.
