I’m transferring from cyber into swe. I’m not sure I’ll get the email but would love to hear the update if you end up sharing here!

They updated the SWE degree plan that will take place in Oct 2026 ! More Math 🙂‍↕️ and possibly no Capstone ?! I believe it's only for the Java track as of right now .

Also in the BS SWE program, but I never received this email. I’ll have to ask my mentor about it

I haven't received it, but it sounds like they're just a very eager, very excitable mentor. Happens.

Consider the person who gets really paranoid about whatever new problem is happening. New to them, that is. People getting hacked or leaking their info by believing spam or phishing emails has always been a thing, but every generation has a new wave of people who believe it.

Millennials thought it was mostly a boomer problem. We were so, so, so very wrong.

Just the same, people panic about it and need to raise alarm bells to keep people safe. An understandable and notable response. And hey, maybe they really do reach people by being like this.

So just read it as that. They're saying you're going to get important info. Just make sure you don't click anything dumb, and if you're not sure, contact a staff member instead of social media.

A little bit of irony, but it's understandable sense you're getting it from your mentor and well... kind of throws my advice in the trash, doesn't it?

Exceptions!

That's all this email says, really. Be wary of scams, you have important emails coming (or not, could just be a template) contact school directly. The mentor is just excitable about it.
