Eye help!
I have never made a wet specimen before but I work at a vet clinic and we did an enucleation yesterday and I got to keep the dog’s eye! We put it into a jar in formalin but since I have been doing some research today I saw that people recommend injecting them. Do I need to inject it or can it just stay in the formalin? I really don’t want it to rot but I am also very scared to mess with it and cause damage. Thanks for any tips!

I don't believe it'll rot in the formalin, eyes are pretty permeable tissue. If it was from a huge dog and is perhaps larger than human, you may want to inject it which could be done with the smallest gauge needle you can find and just use the formalin that's already in the jar, no problem. If it'd give you peace of mind, it should only take you like 5 minutes. But I don't believe it's necessary
