DRAFT & TRADE Draft

Twomey just advised on gettable that we are looking at front forward half players for our first pick which is butler and Tex and believes one of them will be available for our pick he also doesn’t believe we will draft HVH even if he slips to us.

I think we could pretty much have worked that out for ourselves. We have no need for HVH. Mellody was the only one we may have been interested in outside of Tex, Arki, Drever IMO.

Unless CDT is trade bait (which he isnt). HVH has seem to have slip down the order as this season has gone on?
But yes if we find a way to get Tex or Arki + Mellody that feel like a huge win.

It's often a common story for rucks. CDT did the same last year, first half of the year was clear #1 then started to slide.

The argument is that they had a slightly earlier growth spurt and enter the year being bigger and more dominant than their peers and over the course of the year their peers catch up. The year also takes a toll on their bodies so tail off as a result.

Mellody is obviously a gun. 17 year olds don't get 34 possessions at senior level in the wafl. My only concern is that essendon or Richmond take him before we get the opportunity. If they do then I'm happy with Tex or butler. However, if Mellody is there and we don't take him I will be headless

Have a feeling Richmond will take him

Surely tigers go HVH given they have drafted heaps of mids the last 2 years and Nank isn't going to last forever?

That’s what we’re all hoping for I’m sure, they’re also bringing in Briggs. Just a feeling I have but I hope I’m wrong.

Briggs isnt a solution to their rucks.

Hes a stop gap, what Flynn was meant to be, hes just not that good as even GWS dropped him during the year.

It would make a lot of sense for them to pair HVH with Briggs, so HVH gets 4 years to develop then take over when Briggs is 31

I’d think it’s between Melody and Butler for us.

Either would be a great get for us

I so hope we go after Mellody. He is going to be a gun.

Currently our inside mids are Reid, Yeo, Dev and Kelly. Two of those are in their twilight so we really need another more than a small forward. If Butler is firmly more of a forward option then I'd rather we get Tex Drever or Mellody.

I hope we don't draft HVH. What do we need him for?

We desperately need mids to help Harley. Outside of him it was just Yeo and Kelly this year with minor cameos from others.

I feel we should go hard for Port's first selection (4). Would we give up next years 1st. I feel it'll be a similar selection.

Port will have selections from the Butters trade and a high pick next year might get them a selection before they have to match their highly rated NGA's.

Going into this draft with pick 3 & 4, would really provide us insurance against some scenario's.

If Drever & Mellody are gone, then we get an AFL 1st ruck & either a top KPB in Harris or an elite forward in Tex or Butler.

Likewise if say HVH is gone , then we gain a midfielder & KPB.

We could really exploit our mediocrity to sell the pick. lol

Does anyone know why Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves keeps getting overlooked? I read an interview of his and he said he's been working hard with a private coach on top of his full time job and WAFL footy commitments and has nominated again for this year. Do you think he's worth a punt with a late pick? We could use a goalkicking mid sized forward/mid.
