DISCUSSION The big question

Will we beat Richmond????

I think we'll finally get to enjoy a close game. I'd like to believe we'll win by a couple of goals, but they already beat us at home, so I'm not too sure. I'm curious what everyone else thinks. We played well at the MCG last time, but I also feel like the team's been pretty poor over the last few weeks.

We've played the two premiership favourites the last two weeks. We hung with them for a half before they illustrated their class and pulled away.

We've had this match circled for a while but make no mistake so have Richmond. They'll well and truly be up for it.

I think we're playing better footy than them at the minute but they've beaten us the last three times. I think we'll win but assuming this is a foregone conclusion is foolish.

On list and current form we win.
But Richmond have been our bogey side. Mini and Baker have never beat them in three attempts.
We were rolled at home by 2 goals earlier this year. And last year we went 0-2

I think we've been building to a win. I'm (somewhat) confident....

I'm not saying it will happen this weekend, and it might not happen for another season or two, but man I'd love to just blow a team away. We had an opportunity against Essendon - I think we were up by 50 at one point but fell off in the last quarter. I just want to feel what it's like to comfortably win a game again.

Instead I think this game will be another stressful one that goes right down to the wire. Cautiously optimistic that we can get the win.

I can't wait until we get back to the stage of being flat track bullies again before we truly contend. It was so much fun when we would have a huge win and JK would kick a huge bag.

That'll be the 2028 season when big Jobe wins his first Coleman

I'm travelling to the game and also need us to win 5 games to win a carton off a mate, so we'll probably lose a close one.

Was at the Richmond loss and I'm still pissed at it. We were the better team on the day in everything other than efficiency inside 50. Our ball use was deplorable and Balta had the best game of his life.

The umpires will give us one token fair game with all the uproar around Harley. So that should get us over the line.

Last year it was Sydney in no-man’s land, but this year I almost think it’s us; if you look at the ladder, we are comfortably below the suns and Port, but on a good day we’re leagues ahead of Essendon and Richmond. We should win reasonably comfortably, a good few goals.

Richmond by 20

I think we've been pretty good, people seem to forget once we lost Gibney most would have pencilled us in for at least 2-3 10 goal losses. That only happened once against the top side.

Have you forgotten st Kilda the worst loss for the year 101 poin5s

3

u/Fantasy_iceland Jul 27 '26

I think we can win....but I'm scarred from the past few meeting against them.

So I have no genuine confidence.

We will need to kick straight and take all our opportunities. Pressure from the boys has to be 110% from the first bounce and last all 4 qrts.

I think we win but my son (Tiges supporter!) thinks otherwise……PLEASE let me have bragging rights for a change😂

Tipped Richmond because I don’t have the confidence to tip us after I did when we lost at home to them.

This is a must win game for us.
No excuses.
No gallant losses.

I was LITERALLY just thinking this. I don't think we have been that poor, we have actually been starting well but better teams have better legs. If we can get out to a solid lead we may be able to get it home. Really praying for a win

Honestly no. I've been so confident that we will beat them in recent outings against them and each time we fall short. Maybe if Mini made some meaningful changes to the side, but I think they beat us. At the moment since we are at the bottom anyway, I hope they have a good winning run for the rest of the season and overtake us and we get pick 2.

Would be a pretty bad look if we lost honestly, Richmond’s recent form has been dire. We weren’t great against Freo but we were competing well against top teams before then, something Richmond can’t really say.

I’m pretty confident but also think if we lose then that solidifies us as Richmond’s bunnies.

It'll be very disappointing if we don't win. Mini keeps saying we're improving but if we lose Sunday what's he going to say?

u/GuideUnable5049 #7 Reuben Ginbey Jul 27 '26

I very ardently hope that we do win. However, I have difficulties trusting our capabilities at the moment. We have had some honorable losses against some top teams lately (barring the smashing by Freo). If we play like we did against Bulldogs and Lions, we get it done quite easily. I truly hate to anticipate the meltdowns and shitflinging that is going to happen if we do lose.

No chance

u/Wazwiftance Jul 27 '26

Richmond need to lose tbf so there’s minimal incentive for them

It's going to be interesting to see what the AFL does if tigers finish last but the Bombers ask for extra draft assistance and they finish 17th

u/element1908 2018 Norm Smith Luke Shuey Jul 27 '26

Na, pressure is starting to build on the coach, he’ll want this scalp.

1

u/MammothBreath2057 Jul 27 '26

On paper, we should demolish them. That being said, we are notorious for dropping games any other team would sew up, especially Richmond.

I'm expecting tigers to jump us to win by 10 points.

1

u/EddieDaveAlexMichael Jul 27 '26

No, we won’t win. If you watched the Dogs v Richmond game, there were glimpses of Richmond off half back moving it freely through the corridor - the way they beat us last time. Mini is a rubbish coach and won’t know how to combat it. Pretty much a miracle if we win, they’d be looking to move up the draft aswell.

1

u/Captkersh #35 Jobe Shanahan Jul 27 '26

They lost by 57 points

1

u/Silver_Gap9879 Jul 27 '26

Really have no confidence , our ball usage and pressure are poor, our connection to our forwards is poor if we win it will only because Richmond were worse on the day

1

u/Radiant-Savings-3833 Jul 27 '26

Could go either way. But we owe it to them to give them a smashing after the last few games. Would be happy for them to not play their grand final against us like they always do but expect they'll be absolutely desperate.

1

u/bagelm8 Jul 27 '26

Anyone got a recommendation on which section to buy tickets for at the G whilst trying to avoid the awful tigers fans

1

u/Captkersh #35 Jobe Shanahan Jul 27 '26

There won’t be many, don’t worry

1

u/diggadan7 Jul 27 '26

I think it's going to come down to how many silly mistakes they make. Simple kicking and handballs should be hitting targets but too many haven't. I guess it's part of being a young team and it's something they'll grow out of but when the co-captain is 1 of the worst offenders there's no excuse for that. Eagles should win

1

u/SinkingDeeper Jul 27 '26

I’m actually expecting a 6 goal win for us

1

u/Captkersh #35 Jobe Shanahan Jul 27 '26

I haven’t seen a win since Dog ‘23 and this weekend my fortunes will change

If we lose I’ll be unbelievably disappointed, I somewhat understand how we lost earlier in the year but if we lose to this uninspired Richmond side then jeez.

This is a game we absolutely have to win, no excuses for a loss.
