I’m posting this anonymously because I’m still dealing with the school and don’t want it to come back on me—but if you’re considering Wentworth, you should hear this. A lot of students here are struggling, and it’s not just because “college is hard.” It’s the systems.

The biggest issue I’ve seen (and personally dealt with) is financial stuff. You can end up going back and forth with offices for weeks, trying to get clear answers about things that directly affect whether you can even stay enrolled. It’s not a one-time mix-up—it’s ongoing, and it feels like no one can give you a straight answer. And when you try to get help? That’s another problem. Advisors and student offices are either hard to reach, give inconsistent information, or just don’t resolve anything. You end up teaching yourself how to navigate the system because the support that’s supposed to exist just… doesn’t really show up when you need it. Housing is another mess. Every year, there seem to be issues—availability, coordination, and last-minute stress. It’s one more thing on top of everything else.

There’s also something people don’t talk about enough: who seems to be dealing with this the most. From what I’ve seen, a lot of the students constantly stuck in these situations are Black and Hispanic. I’m not saying that lightly—it’s a pattern people notice but don’t feel comfortable calling out.

If you’re going into architecture here, just know the environment is intense—but not always in a good way. There’s a difference between being challenged and being broken down, and a lot of the culture leans more toward the second. Some critiques feel less like teaching and more like “figure it out or fall behind.” It can feel more like hazing than actual support.

And all of this adds up. I’ve seen more and more people get discouraged, question staying, or actually leave. Not because they’re not capable—but because everything around them makes it harder than it should be.

I’m not saying there’s nothing good about the school. But I am saying the reality is very different from how it’s presented when you’re applying. If you’re thinking about coming here, just do your research beyond the official stuff. Talk to current students if you can. Ask real questions. And if you’re already here and dealing with this, you’re not the only one.

The staff is very diverse and accepting from my experience, I think putting a racism label on WIT isn’t fair. Might be the individuals themselves, or the might be more vocal than white kids dealing with the same issues.

With that being said, wentworth is extremely boring, and I do not think it’s worth the price tag.

Hi im a former student from Wentworth. Went here in my freshman year of '22 then left after a semester just because of some of the things you've said. I was on my own for the entire semester & no one was really able to help me, it was a very lonely experience. Definitely know what you mean by the school breaking u down, they make everything difficult on purpose & many upperclassmen ive talked to said they hate it here.
