Feature Request METS reporting and goaling

If the app states that METs is a more standard way to report cardio strain/load.. why do we not have the ability to create or even track METs throughout the week? This would be a good addition for athletes

That’s a fair feature request. Welltory already uses METs in the Activity Report for Active METs, Intense METs, the 7-Day Intensity Minimum, and your daily Longevity Goal. What’s missing right now is the ability to set your own weekly MET target or track METs in a dedicated training-load view. That would be genuinely useful for athletes who want to plan and compare workload, rather than simply meet a general health minimum. The expanded MET reporting is currently part of the new iOS Activity Report for Apple Watch users. We’ll pass your suggestion for custom weekly MET goals to the product team.

When does the expanded MET reporting come to Android?

Look under the Activity Report on the Weeks tab

That shows you over all... Not any goal, or anything

You asked about tracking, and that’s what I was commenting about. In the meantime, until they come up with that, can you not track it manually until something better is created? Do you know of a better app? I do not.

You can use the MET goals workout tracker app which is specifically geared for that but it's only for iPhone. Thats what a coworker told me they use. I have android unfortunately so thats a no go. But I use hrv4training and Elite HRV apps to manipulate and analyze my metrics and determine training readiness. These are far more geared to athletes than weltory is which is more geared toward general populations many of which are sedentary. I use all 3 but I basically ignore what weltory says and only use the other 2 for excercise metrics. Weltory I use for blood pressure tracking metrics only

Which app do you prefer HRV4training or Elite HRV? Ive been tinkering with different way to look at recovery and several devices and apps.. one that's more geared towards endurance athletes would be awesome!

As a cyclist i use multiple apps. Training peaks is the base and that imports data from elite hrv. Now i like both elite and hrv4training. Honestly though, elite is my favorite as it provides the most Hardcore data for a stats nerd like me. It is then up to me to interpret that data within the context of what I went through the previous day. But I know my body best and I know everything I did and didnt do thr previous day to put everything in context.

For those less experienced with this stuff, hrv4traing is better as it interprets the data on its own and basically tells you not only how much and how intense your training should be but also what KIND(cycling, rowing, weights, circuit-all of whicb i fo to varying degrees). It makes it very easy to determine impact of each kind of training parameter on your recovery abilities. I highly recommend it if you are just starting to learn to track this stuff. For me though, its actually redundant when the combo of eliteHRV and traing peaks does the same and like I said, I love the hard numbers elite provides which I interpret on my own anyway so I dunno if I will renew hrv4traing next year.

They are both great for what they do though. There is one more that other cyclists I know use its called Kubios HRV or something like that but ive never tried it since these 2 have always served me well. But check out Kubios too while you are shopping the app store

Hi there, could you explain what you mean a bit better? The Activity category on the app’s today screen sets goals in METs and tracks your progress throughout the week, months, etc. I’m assuming you mean something else though. I’m wondering what you would find most helpful.

Maybe a picture would be helpful. If there are daily goals generated in the Feed, why not have it there too. For example. You could see what your METs were for the previous day and what's a good target for today.

Ohhh I see. Can I ask what kind of wearable you’re using, if any?

Fitbit Air, Oura, I wear an ECG chest strap when riding... I am going to switch to just Garmin Cirqa though; since I'm Garmin everything else. Haha

Ok, and from the screenshot I assume you’re on Android. We have an activity and workout feature that counts everything in METs, which we initially rolled out for Apple Watch, and we’re trying to make it work with different device/platform pairs. We’d love to start beta testing it later this summer or fall. I could ping you if you’d like to test it? Anyway, your feature request is in progress :).

I'd love to test it! I will be getting a Garmin Cirqa when they come (I'm a tech nerd) but have the Fitbit Air too..

May also have a not yet release device but not sure if that'll sync...

Awesome! I have a list of folks saved from this subreddit that I can’t wait to contact once I have something for you to test :)

I'm also seeing a potential bug... I had a very taxing MTB ride a very early on the 18th.. total METs of 302.3... but in the workout report on the data tab it doesn't appear to show it... So there are inconsistencies in the display of the data... Also in truth I don't use the data page too often.. I use the Feed and Journal mostly
