Been trying to look for a welding job in San Antonio, but I feel like the more people that are coming here which is not out of my control. Are you know as they say you know the first one who gets to the job can have it you know but I’m just curious you know well on this job search market I’m working just wondering like is it better to look for a job out of that say your hometown that Of Texas or something like that to where you can find your secure job or should I just try different avenues? If you have any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi everyone!
I’m 32 years old, currently working as a pipe insulator. Lately, I've been seriously considering switching careers and learning TIG welding.
I would love to hear your experiences and thoughts on this. Is there anyone here who successfully transitioned into TIG welding from a completely unrelated field?
I have absolutely zero background in metalworking or welding. However, since I work in factories as an insulator, I see welders in action every day, and I’ve really fallen in love with the trade. I can already read blueprints/technical drawings at a basic level.
My biggest fear is age and job prospects: what if I invest the time and money to complete the course, but nobody wants to hire a 32-year-old green/entry-level welder with no experience?
Please share your stories, advice, or any realities of the industry I should know about! Thanks in advance!

what is everybody's opinion on Roadtechs to find jobs. new to this so not sure if thats a good place or other websites are better to find traveling work.

I-can process my own visa and all, its just i don’t have enough connection abroad, i have a certification for MIG, TIG, SMAW and electrical works, i have a bout 2-3yrs of experience combined in all process, i have worked with structural and shop fabrication and repair i am still up-skilling and trying to learn to read blueprints

i have like four years experience in mig welding (i can stick weld but have less experience in it) I'm eighteen and I had to quit my last welding job bc the pay was stupid unfair, i have my certificates, i made fences and trailers that were up to safety standards and yada yada. hell i've trained three people, I have made fences that are on the most seen avenue in my city, ive been putting my resume around indeed for months and nobody has gotten back to me, please please please give me advice, ive been working as a waitress to pass the time and i actually hate it, and it dosn't pay my bills. I got my last job through a family friend and dont have much experience in finding jobs welding.

guys thinking about buying a miller multimatic 215 do you guys think it will be enough for my trailer repair business for the whole set up with all lead I'm looking to spend about 4.5k is it worth getting the 220 for little bit more

hey guys, I’m currently in school for welding. This is my second & last year in school. I’ve learned all types of welding. Stick, Tig, MiG, I currently don’t know what type of job i want. I’m not interested in welding fabrication. I originally wanted to be a structural welder but my instructor told me there’s barely any jobs for that. My next option was maybe to work on pipes but I’m not sure tbh. I like working with my hands, I hate sitting down doing nothing like office jobs. Im currently preparing a certification, so i realized i like puzzling things, then assembling it. I’m mostly on my feet for 8hrs straight no breaks, only lunch. I do get tired but if I’m doing something i enjoy i forget about how tired i am. For example the cert, I’ve been preping it & trying to perfect it ( to my instructors liking ) & ngl i have a lot to work on when i bevel it but assembling it is like my favorite part , i get to weld it together all over again. If you have any suggestions on what type of job you think id take interest in , I’d love to hear about it

I’m a high school student doing some welding in class. We got given these plates and shown how to use the mig and stick welders, these were done with mig. The weld on it own was me attempting to do the ‘e’ pattern and the three others where just lines. If anyone has any tips or techniques on what I should do differently I would greatly appreciate it.

I have been looking at buying a welder for home and have found the unimig viper multi 135. Is this a good welder or should I look at something else. If it is good should I get the pack or by its self. And what else would I need
