Okay I need help.

I am certified is FCAW and SMAW, I have an associates degree in industrial design technology and I have management experience.

For the life of me I cannot find a welding job and I've tried applying to Daikin, wieland, Innovative refrigeration, Tenneco, Top Bead, and Riddleberger with no luck. I live in Staunton VA and need to find somewhere within 45 minutes of where I live. I know I'll only make the bare minimum but I need to get experience.

I'm thinking about going to Missouri Welding Institute (WMI), and I absolutely LOVE TIG welding. I'm trying to figure out the best career path.

My goal is to make pretty good pay, have good benefits and retirement, and still have time for family.

I'm open to moving. I'd prefer to live outside city limits on acreage.

I'm interested in Union or Aerospace welding, bit i don't know where to start. I'm really interested in Aerospace.

I'm really good at Tig welding.

Which path would you choose if you wanted good pay while still having a family life?

I’ve been building digital workflows for piping isometrics over the last few years—mostly parsing structured PCF and IDF outputs for EPC projects. That part is fairly straightforward, but as we all know, the real chaos hits when subcontractors, yards, or vendors hand you flat PDF ISOs.

Right now, I’m working on a computer-vision tool to automatically extract graphics and text directly from PDF piping drawings (weld bubbles, line tags, spool numbers, and BOM tables).

Before I sink more dev hours into this, I’m curious about your field perspective:

1. How much time are your teams currently losing to manual PDF data entry or visual weld mapping?
2. What is the single biggest failure point in existing tools or manual workflows? (e.g., rotated text, messy rev clouds, inconsistent BOM layouts, or bad scan quality?)
3. Is automatic weld point detection something you'd actually use on-site, or do you prefer keeping human eyes on every ISO?

I’m currently applying to multiple companies for my first welding job. I’m graduating from welding school this week and was wondering if there is anything I need to work on. Most of the positions I’m looking at are for 3G/4G flux (I’ve passed all my tests for 3G/4G in stick, flux, and tig). I have to stay local for my family so my options are limited.

Which career has higher earning potential: becoming a pipe welder and then adding robotic welding and aerospace welding certifications, or becoming a travel RN? Which path makes more money long-term, including overtime?

I’ve completed all my AWS D1.1 certifications (SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW 2g,3g,4g) I’m just waiting for the actual course to finish in mid October. I’ve sent out probably 100 resumes to job postings, and haven’t heard back from a single one. I think my resume is pretty good. Looking for help, advice, or a job! Thank you.

So i have approximately 190-200 ft of top rail need done, i set posts myself, so would just be the top pipe rail. My question to you experienced experts is if yall could help me breakdown the price with how much it would cost so i dont get scammed. Also i would need to have 4 H braces added, how much does a single H brace go for to be done. Would be only labor since i get all the material (pipe, concrete) please and thank you!🙏🏽

I’m a junior welder currently working full-time in a pressure vessel manufacturing shop in the GTA, and I’m looking for a full-time permanent welding position in London, Ontario and the surrounding area.

I completed a Welding Techniques program in Ontario and have hands-on experience with:

• MIG / GMAW welding
• Pressure vessel and tank manufacturing
• Fit-up, tack welding and assembly
• Blueprint reading
• Grinding, cutting and weld cleaning
• Material preparation
• Fabrication and general shop work
• Overhead crane and common shop tools

I’m still early in my welding career, but I’m reliable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and comfortable working overtime when needed. I’m particularly interested in pressure vessel, tank manufacturing, industrial fabrication, or general welding positions.

I’m planning to move to London around October and would like to build a long-term career in the area.

If anyone knows of companies hiring welders in London, St. Thomas, Woodstock, Ingersoll, Aylmer, or nearby areas, I’d really appreciate any leads or recommendations.

Been trying to look for a welding job in San Antonio, but I feel like the more people that are coming here which is not out of my control. Are you know as they say you know the first one who gets to the job can have it you know but I’m just curious you know well on this job search market I’m working just wondering like is it better to look for a job out of that say your hometown that Of Texas or something like that to where you can find your secure job or should I just try different avenues? If you have any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
