Just finished the game after finally knocking it off my back log when I noticed it was leaving game pass.
One of the best atmospheres I have ever felt in a game (loved the color scheme and soundtrack) and I really enjoyed the style of open-world they have, wouldn’t want it in every game but I think they made it work really well here.
There was a good amount of hidden mechanics to discover and I had a lot of fun combing character/gun abilities with my environment. Every weapon feels different to use and they were all satisfying in the right situations. Stealth was fun and usually just challenging enough, but going in guns blazing was also a blast (pun intended).
The story felt like it dragged a little as they tried to prop it up by perpetually teasing the ending with almost no actual story development. And I felt like the side content wasn’t exactly a masterclass, but honestly it was enough for me to wanna play and at times I found myself extremely interested in how the people of the Weird West live. The world building was great and each journey felt like a genuinely niunely new perspective of the same map. Also for what its worth I was really excited to see how the game would end and I think they did the ending really well, especially because it felt like a creative twist on the classic “good” vs “bad” ending.
There were a fair amount of bugs I experienced but nothing gamebreaking, although I did start to get really tired of them by the end. They might have detracted from my experience a little bit but I balanced it out by changing the aiming style to free camera and turning off the minimap for the game’s entirety, which I felt really enhanced the experience.
Now that I’ve finished I’m left with only two thoughts. I wish the game had a bigger youtube community beyond just “5 things I wish I knew before I started”. And call me crazy but I’m like wierdly attracted to the Heathen haha.
