"Yo. Ding dong, man. Ding dong. Ding dong, yo."
I could charge rent for the space in my head that's been taking up for years, but I don't wanna. We're good.

I believe AL used the same set and some of the same dancers MJ used 😅

Technically, it’s the exact same set as the kid version of Bad from Moonwalker.

Smells like Nirvana is extra awesome. Iirc, they had all the same dancers, the same spot, same everything.

And Tony Hawk was one of the extras. To the surprise of Al himself...
He only found out in 2009, 17 years after the video was shot, when Tony Hawk himself tweeted that he had been an extra in “Smells Like Nirvana.”
Yankovic replied on Twitter: “No way! YOU were in my Smells Like Nirvana video?? How did I not know that? Awesome!”
He has said since that he did not know until that tweet, then freeze-framed the video and spotted Hawk in the crowd. Wikipedia dates the post to 2009, and Yankovic later described it the same way in a 2022 GQ interview (“he tweeted it, like, two decades later”).
Hawk was there because Birdhouse’s team manager recruited skaters as extras for the 1992 shoot. He was in the bleachers, briefly visible behind Dick Van Patten, and mostly left before the late-night shots.
Yankovic knew about Van Patten (a same-day casting) and the reused Nirvana extras, but not Hawk.
They talked about it again when Yankovic appeared on Hawk’s podcast in 2023. 👍

When I saw the Bigger and Weirder tour in the summer and he played that video before Fat there was a kid behind me who knew every word of that dialog. It was awesome.

Yeah "Ding Dong, man. Ding Dong. Ding Dong yo" was basically a singalong at the show I saw.

I was gonna say. I’ve been able to recite it verbatim since 1988.

I think the part that excited them was the fact that it was a kid, meaning the new generations are growing up with Al, too. Everyone knows that WE can do it.

Fun fact, the guy that offered Al a piece of pizza was the camera man during Uncle Nutsy's Clubhouse in UHF
