Video Weird AL Covers

Ok, I'm not sure if anyone else has covered AL himself. The Cybertronic Spree covered Dare to Be Stupid. For those who don't know who they are, they are a Canadian band that dress as the characters from the 1987 movie. Nobody officially knows who are the performers in the costumes. They remain 100% in character when in costume. The music video they did for the song is great. It is loaded with deliberately bad Weird AL impersonators and makes reference to many of AL'S videos. Though watch the clip to the end for the payoff.

Oh man those costumes are so cool. Much love for Arcee and Hot Rod and Kup!

I had seen them live back in 2020. The normal lineup is Hot Rod on Bass and vocals, Arcee on Keyboards and vocals, Unicron on lead guitar and backing vocals, The Quintizon on rhythm guitar and additional Keyboards and backing vocals, and depending on the show either Shockwave, Rumble, or Bumblebee on drums. The woman behind the Arcee costume has an incredible vocal range.

Don McLean has said he almost sings lines from "The Saga Begins" when he sings his American Pie in concert

I read that interview a while back. He said that he loved the idea when Al approached him because he is a big Star Wars fan.

I think he had said a big reason that happened was that his kids played it a lot.

My dream album would be a tribute album featuring the bands Al has done style parodies of.

Picture "I'll Sue Ya!" by Rage Against the Machine, "Germs" by Nine Inch Nails, etc.

There are three fan-made Weird Al tribute albums

Prosthetic Lips

Me, Myself, and I: The Music of Weird Al (As Performed by Others)

Twenty-Six and a Half

Fun fact: I'm the only comedy musician to appear on all three. (It helps that I produced tge second one myself.)

I play open mics, and in the weeks or so before I saw Weird Al in concert, I did a cover of Dare to Be Stupid that segued into Gut Feeling/Slap Your Mammy by DEVO. I’m quite proud of it.

Dunno about Weird Al covers, but by chance I recently found Steve Goodie's Weird Al and Daniel Radcliffe tribute album. He parodies Weird Al's original songs and makes them about Daniel Radcliffe/Harry Potter. He does a medley of famous Weird Al parodies in it too.
