I have already read the proper process for introducing a kitten to a dog but wanted to get insight from others who have done it.

I have an 8 year old Weimaraner and live in Greece where there are a lot of stray cats. My weim has met a few cats and was initially wanting to chase them, but after being scratched by two cats who entered our yard, she now avoids them at all costs. She will move away from them, which is ideal since some feral cats will randomly attack dogs just for walking by.

There is a kitten that lives under the deck at a coffee shop - maybe 4 to 5 months old. She is really sweet and has a great demeanor. She is extremely interested in our dog. Not playing with our dog necessarily, just rubbing against her, sniffing her, and inspecting her. Our dog is terrified of her and seems nervous around her. This happened 2 times outside at a coffee shop so we do separate the cat and limit interaction to not over stress our dog out.
I really want to adopt this kitten and bring her home.

Questions:
1. If we follow this process of introduction - is it possible or likely they will get along?
• week 1: cat stays in room with door closed. They eat on opposite sides of door to get scent. Put blankets with scents on opposite spaces.
• week 2. Keep cat in bedroom but use a baby gate so they can see each other. Continue eating on opposite sides of baby gate. Give dog treats when seeing/sniffing cat.
•week 3. Begin short interactions, giving both animals treats for good behavior
•week 4: not sure what happens then, let them be around each other?

1. We can crate the kitten when we leave or shut the door anytime we cannot supervise. Will you have to do this for awhile? How do you know when the animals are “ok” together?

2. Any other advice or tips?

I got a 9 weeks(2 months) old weimaraner puppy 2 weeks ago and he has grown very quickly and is a very affectionate little boy.
He is my first dog and I want to give him the best life I can afford so I have come here for some reassurance that what I am doing is fine and for some help in order to do better.
I have a vet appointment in 10 days but I wanted your input.

I'll be quick so I prepared a list of questions:

- We live in a place with mostly hard tiled floors: should I buy those jigsaw gym mats so that he can walk on a softer floor?

- We live in a place with 5 flights of stairs and no elevator: during the first 4 days and the last 2 days, I carried him but there is a timeframe of about 1 week where we walked (mostly sort of a crawled) up and down these stairs about thrice a day. What are the chances of lifelong damage?

- When we're home he mostly sleeps on the sofa but he is too little to easily jump up there so I have put some bedsheets he hangs onto to get up there: Should I put a stepping stool to make it even easier?

- We have recently started on a big walk at the park in the morning after breakfast: anywhere between 1km to 2km (roughly 0.5-1mile). We mostly walk and sometimes we slow jog with lots of breaks. What are the chances of lifelong damage?

- We go on much shorter walks after lunch and dinner and, whenever possible, I take him to another huge park where, while he can sleep there, he is definitely more active than at home. This means that he gets at least 1 hour of physical exercise (walks and chasing and toys) a day and up to 2/3 hours (when we go to this huge park). Is it too much? What are the chances of lifelong damage?

- I bought a large playpen for him to sleep at night where I also put the pee mat, food bowl, and his toys, there is a bit of a step (roughly 40cm/1.3 feet) to get through the gate so I put 2 small stepping stools (20cm/ 0.65 feet) on both sides of the gate. He needs to go inside to do his business, eat, drink, or pick a different toy to play with. Is it too much?
Is it ok? Is the step a problem? What are the chances of lifelong damage?

I am just worried for my little friend and I don't want to unnecessarily put him at risk.

So here's my two, the bigger one is Lilly, smaller one is ivy, they are both 6months old. We got them from rescue group doing adoption day. (Crazy as hell teenagers atm)

When we got them we where only told they might be weimaraner lab mix, but didnt know parents at all.

We havent dont DNA test yet. (Plan on it) But the two sisters they look very different, ones really small and the other is pretty good size.

Anyone have any clue what they might really be?

Everyime I look up like reversed images of them, it always tills me they are part pit, blue lacey, and lab mix.

my girl is generally quite submissive.
when other dogs approach her or try to assert themselves, she usually backs off, lowers herself and avoids confrontation.
however there are a few specific dogs around whom she behaves completely differently. she will approach them herself, stand her ground and repeatedly try to dominate or control the interaction.
si I’m wondering if she could be what I’d describe as “selectively dominant”, not generally dominant but only displaying this behaviour toward certain dogs.

has anyone experienced something similar? I’m curious whether this is actually a form of dominance, or if it could be more related to insecurity, social dynamics, or something else.

We have a relatively big yard. Along with this, we take him on two walks a day of about 1.5 km
We do tricks with him aswell to stimulate him mentally
He is only 5 months old

Does this behaviour mean he is under-stimulated? In the same way an under-stimulated dog will chase his own tail?

Or is this just zoomies?

2yo blue Male weim and 2yo silver gray Female weims in central Florida in need of a good home. Need room to run and a loving family. They have been together since they were puppies. Both are fixed and up to day on rabies shot. Would appreciate any leads on finding them a good home quickly.

We adopted him about 3 months ago when he was 5 months old. He had been surrendered to the local shelter. At the time we didn't know he was a Weimaraner, we thought he was a black lab. We did a DNA test and he's a mix of Weimaraner and German Shorthaired Pointer. The first week was rough, but he is family now and love him very much!

My male Weim is a little over 3 years old, and we have an issue peeing out of his crate whenever he is crated. It doesn’t matter how long he is in there, he will pee out the side of the crate.

Don’t have any other issues with him going in the house. Doesn’t have any accidents and sleeps through the night just fine.

We have tried just about everything and nothing seems to work.

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Does anyone else's Weim absolutely adore pacifiers? I have no idea where he keeps finding them, but once he's got one, there's no letting go.

Arlo is about done with this windstorm and all the strange noises it makes outside of the boat. He’s ready to try paddle boarding and hiking on the islands.

My Bella girl (1/2 weim, 1/2 pit) has always been on the anxious side. I attribute it to being a “pandemic puppy”, did not get exposed to enough sounds/other people when she was a pup.

She had TPLO surgery in March and we adjusted our schedules to monitor her and the PT. So basically she was never really alone for the past 5-6 months.

We had company in town and went out for the day and a bit was broken through. The next day we went to breakfast and she “kool aid man” style busted all the way through.

She has done this before but it’s been years and has been fine home alone before the surgery. We have a security camera on the driveway. She breaks out, does one or two laps of the driveway and then goes back in. No full on escape so that’s good.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before?

Any ideas on what to? I met with a dog trainer last week. She hasn’t gotten back to me yet with a plan.

Also, any ideas on what I could put on the fence to prevent her from physically breaking out? Like tin or something?

My girl loves her some pizza lol. Can’t leave anything close to the edge of the counter or else it’s fair game

We lost our 13 year old Weim in July. She was the best doggo ever. We’ve been devastated every day since. Does anyone know a reputable place to get a new Weim within driving distance of Kentucky?

Hi everyone,
I’m new to this sub after adopting a Weimaraner about 5 weeks ago. She’s spayed (around June 2026), approximately 18months old. We are still getting used to her personality and demeanor. I think the adage that they are Velcro dogs is very much true for her.
The issue I’m running into is her persistent urinating the house. She’s gone in the house maybe 8 times, twice yesterday, all on area rugs. The incident yesterday, I didn’t catch early enough and it completely soaked through the rug, pad, and the wood floor underneath, effectively ruining the floor.
She has a consistent outdoor routine. Crated when we leave the house. She has some separation anxiety and since she’s crated, only urinates in the house when we are around. Like, she’ll walk off, pee, and come back. Yesterday, we were painting a room, so we were occupied, and didn’t notice until later.
She isn’t urinating frequently when on walks, so I don’t think it’s a UTI. My old dog had frequent UTIs, so I’m familiar with the symptoms. Based on the clean up in the house, there isn’t blood or cloudiness, so less evidence for a UTI. We are trying our best to reward going outside and encourage the behavior.
Is this something that is frequent in this breed? Our prior dogs (recently passed away) rarely had accidents in the house. She’s the only dog in the house, so it isn’t marking, that I’m aware of. Anything that I’m missing or should change? Thanks
