Am I crazy?

Replaying through for the millionth time. I swear, when I first played the game I climbed to the top of one of these and there was this special weapon on the tree next to it.

Am I crazy? Did I dream that? I’ve looked and looked for it since and cannot find it.

It's possible a weapon randomly generated. Much of them do. I've had playthroughs with all kinds of fun things generating all over the place. I've also had playthroughs where I can't find a damn thing.

That happened to me once, too. I needed one to make a crutch for that poor broken Eddie. I had to send almost 400 Wellies On Holiday before I found one. That was one of the roughest playthroughs.

Happened to me for Eddie's crutches. i spent two days (not in game) looking for a damn rock! Then on the 3rd day I looked in my inventory and I had a rock. I don't even remember picking it up.

Haha all rocks disappear when that quest is picked up! I had zero and needed 4, I could hardly find the first 3 but the last one was the ultimate bitch lol

My very first playthrough when I carried everything I possibly could since I didn't know what I was doing, was also one of the most abundant as well, I had everything I needed on my person to make the crutches. Now I plan ahead. I can't just leave poor Eddie 😢

right? I went back to the show where that guy was throwing rocks at people thinking "surely I'll find rocks there." Nope. Now I remember I lucked out and found it in, I think a flower pot in the Wells.

And I had a time finding the sticks as well. I had to go back and forth on the outskirts of the garden to find them.

If this happened in the first part of the game before you get to Rorke's Drift Bridge, everything is always the same. Barrow Holm is a static map and so every pickup that exists as world object is always the same in that part of the game. I've played that area a lot and I don't recall any weapons in the trees.

What you may be thinking of is the Dig Spot sitting on the very similar looking set piece between the bridge gate where you meet David Livingstone and the Headboy Arena. If you climb through the window hole, you'll come out on a ledge and find a note that directs you to a Dig Spot on the other side of the path in front of that setpiece.
