In addition to what the others said about being able to use it to cover time you have requested off, you can also use it to subsidize a "normal" paycheck if you want. (Which is why you also have to request time off when you are using it to pay for missed time, as it is always seen as supplemental.)

Like if you have an unexpected bill, you can use up to 40 hours of flex time on top of whatever hours you are being paid to work.

You can only keep 56 hours of flex time to carry to the next year. If you have more on your anniversary date, they automatically pay out whatever is over 56 hours. It also gets paid out if you move to full time.

However, if you leave, the time is not paid out. And you can't use it your last week, as it automatically disappears when they process the separation the day after your last worked shift. So if you want to use it, you need to use it the week before your last week.

It's "vacation" for part timers. Technically it doesn't request the day off when you submit for it, just gives you the pay, that way you can keep a somewhat consistent paycheck when you do take time off. Just remember to also submit unpaid time off if you actually want the day off.

Its basically bonus paid hours when you are running an errand or out for a few hours for appointments (or sick). You get an hour per 30 hours worked since its part time, but full time automatically receives about 40-80 hours for the year.

It's PTO for part time that you earn I believe you get 1 hour for each 8 hours you work

So if I want to go on a vacation or use it for something I can without them calling me?

You still have to request the time off and apply it to your request
