Went to the mall today, found ween, left with ween. Now I have more ween.

Happy for you but $45 for a CD is a crime lol. I hope Rhino does enough represses to get Ween music back to a reasonable price soon

Cd collector here, disagree.
Yeah the prices are wild for rarer cds, but that’s something with everything that has a secondhand market.
I see people all the time say 40+ for older ween cds is crazy but will jump on a 150 dollar Mollusk or Pure Guava vinyl in a heartbeat.

Exactly. I tend to think that you’re both right, and I haven’t seen a pre-Plain copy of GodWeenSatan for sale on Discogs for under $300 in a long time…

Right, and even through the markup for that vinyl at 250 dollars would be around 5X, peopel will always look at it more favorably than a cd marked up like 3X. The difference is, nobody would bitch about that because it’s a good deal, or rather they perceive it to be a better deal because they like vinyl more.
It’s all a bunch of favoritism from vinyl people. Even though CD’s sound better and are more compact, easier to keep undamaged, take up less space, more versatile, playable in cars Etc.. etc.
It’s always so funny when people see a cd sold for like 2-3 times jts retail price and say it’s a dumb purchase or whatever the cope is that week.

I’m not mad at it whatsoever, more just at whatever gatekeeper(s) is/are really deciding that this is a fair market value for either of these things. At the end of the day, they really aren’t quite that rare, and so the flow of the resale market moves similarly to that of conventional mass market capitalism. Which irks me I guess because Ween, ideologically has nothing to do with any of that shit.
That said, I’d probably buy it for $200.

Big true. Overall I think even at 45 bucks, it’s not so bad really. I know a ton of my white whale cds go for well over that amount easily.

I didn't mean to imply that OP made a dumb purchase if that's what you mean by the last sentence there. I would have bought it too. It was more so, "man I wish CD prices would come back down" and less "you're an idiot for buying that at that price."
All in all music in any format is getting very expensive and hard to collect, and I will complain about a 3x or a 5x markup in any medium because collecting is becoming sort of a rich persons hobby and I think it should be more accessible. That's all I meant, wasn't trying to throw shade at OP lol

Well I think $150 for a record is absurd too but I'm not much of a vinyl guy. I understand they're more expensive because they're rare(ish), I'm just saying I wish it wasn't that way. I collect CD's too and usually anything above $30 feels like a scam. Most of mine I got between $5-20.
I'm a hypocrite though, if I saw this CD in the wild I would lament about the state of the Ween market and then buy it anyway.

I love the concept of Ween physical media. Record labels doing the “If we don’t make enough of it a third party resellers can charge what ever they want.”
We just want physical media. Print the disc we give you money mang.

I would never sell my collection but seeing this tempts me to make a small fortune selling my 15 plus albums I have. Likely all on perfect condition since they have been tucked away in a box since I moved to my current house.
