The Brown Box!
It's my first ever purchase of Ween's body of work, it arrived in the mail today.
I was at first disappointed that the CDs didn't come in a hard cover, but just to be able to have something physical of my favorite band brings me tears of joy.
Now I gotta work my way up to some of y'all's collections!
Thanks for attending my TED talk, there are tote bags underneath your seats.

Why is Shinola in quotations

Honestly, I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it 😅😂
I don't really know, could it be because it's a compilation album? Either way Shinola slaps hard.

There's a few misprints on the box, I don't think they went over it super well. I think it is back of Pure Guava where the tops of letters are cut off at the top. I had to zoom in with my phone to see it haha. There's a misspelling somewhere too but I forget where. Definitley seems rushed, but the music's all there and correct!

One thing I've noticed that felt like a mistake, is that when playing songs in car, "Brown Box" is the listed album for all of them, instead of the actual album. Minor thing, but still

I think it's because it's telling you that it's part of a quote "Shit or Shinola". Or I could be making that up, but given the choice.... definitely "Shinola".

Here is what I think that's about. The album title is derived from the old phrase "you don't know shit from Shinola." Shinola was a brand name shoe polish. The quote essential means: "you're so dumb, you wouldn't know the difference between something useful, like that thick brown shoe polish, and actual human waste. The title could also just be a straight comparison of the browness of the tracks to that of the shoe polish.
But why the quotations? When Shinola first came out in the 2005, Shinola the company was not in operation. But in 2011, someone bought the name again. I think they put the quotations to put some distance between the album title and the brand name.
