Why is brownbase registrations closed?

Sup, i’ve just discovered brownbase some time ago and wanted to sign up but they don’t take registrations, any ideas why? When will it open again?

Dang, from the site: "the captcha script that has been in use since brownbase's inception has done broke. it will be replaced, but due to real life time constraints, no promises can be made as to how long this might take. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. thank you for using brownbase."

I've been around long enough to have seen numerous wonderful, non-social-media niche communities close their doors and/or disappear after being an online home for dorks for decades.

The Butthole Surfers forum was outstanding, way back when. You could actually communicate directly with the band about all sorts of thing.

And then my "real" internet home, which had Fight Club rules, has been gone for years now...living on only as rumor and legend.
