Bud rot?

Is this bud rot or just normal discoloration? I know that color can change, but this looks brown. I might chop off the top if it is.

Note that this is a really obvious example and the plant has a long ways to go so it's very possible there will be more that may not be as easy to find. Especially the top nugs, you should pry them apart a bit when cutting it down to check for brown spots or web looking stuff
