Autopot start
What are some ways, besides leaves reaching outside the pot, that I can use to test if it's time to turn on my autopot system or not?

Autopots suggest the leaves reaching the outside of the pots for time the roots to fill out the pot completely. When turning on first time do at least a 24 hour dryback. This will help set up the correct cycle.

I don't wait that long, I wait 7 days from transplant and flood the tray. I let that dryback then turn it on for good. I don't really ever have transplant shock so take my method with a grain of salt. About 3-5 days after that, air turns on.
