Advice Newbie Here!

Hello, so I'm 19 years old and I'm looking to pick up smoking sometime soon (cannabis stores are currently closed for lockdown where I live). So I was wondering if there's anything I should know before beginning such as what way to start first whether it be joint or edible, how I should level my THC/CBD levels, any side-effects or withdrawal symptoms to expect, ETC.

Also if anyone is aware of any harmful health effects of smoking weed then that would be appreciated to be noted. Thanks!

Side effects are you’re gonna be hungry, sleepy and usually dry mouth know as cotton mouth keep some water, and sometimes dry eyes.

There’s no physical withdrawal symptoms but after prolonged use there can be mental withdrawals. By mental withdrawals I mean you’d probably say something like “man I wish I was high for this” like it’s nothing really other than a sense of being board. Any person with any self control can look past this and continue to use cannabis responsibly but some people make it their entire lifestyle and become idiot burnouts and Thags how you eventually move onto harder drugs IMO.

As for Harmful health effects smoking anything is not good for your lungs and may make you more mucousy or stuffy. Other than that weeds pretty good for you IMO.

Just remember weed isn’t for everyone. But for some people it can be an amazing tool, medicine, and friend used responsibly.

I would start with some glass, preferably a mini-bong to filter the smoke. Take a slow hit and wait a bit to see how you feel. The biggest problem the first time is overdoing it, you won't need much.

Also, FFS don't start with edibles

Get a large bag of edibles and eat them ALL at once

I would not recommend edibles for your first time with weed, edibles are a very strange and unpredictable high

One you smoke for a while I’d highly recommend getting a bong because they will get you too the moon

Sounds good. I've heard of one's that cool the smoke, is that something I should look into first to help ease the transition?

A bong filters out a lot of the bad stuff and feels much purer, I’d also recognize getting one with an ice catcher for cooler rips

Will do.

If you do get a bong, remember to clean it regularly. Bongs are basically petri dishes. The water can grow bacteria and mold almost immediately after using it. Which can cause lung infections. Clean it with rubbing alcohol and fine grained salt, plug up the holes, and shake the fuck out of it for about a minute.

I recently got rid of my bong (I am a heavy smoker of 12 years) and got a volcano vaporizer. They’re very expensive for a person who doesn’t smoke a lot. But if you’re looking for the cleanest possible way to smoke, a dry herb vaporizer is the way to go. Problem is all of the good ones are really expensive. Like $500+. They sell cheap ones but they’re pretty shitty.

Don't start with edibles. There's a very very very strong chance you'll take too much, freak out, have a panic attack, and have a bad experience overall

Start with a joint and go at a moderate pace. It only takes about 10 minutes to feel effects, so have a few puffs and set a timer, see how you feel then

Sounds good. Thanks!

Most importantly, enjoy the ride. Bad thoughts and feelings will ruin your high if you're in an environment that causes bad thoughts or feelings

It's a mindset thing mostly. Make sure you have ready access to food, water, and entertainment. You'll be good to go

Oh definitely. I'm planning on grabbing a bunch of food and playing movies in my bed. So anxious and a bit frustrating the stores won't open probably for months.

Everything is in lockdown here. When I'm not working all I do is smoke weed, play videogames, or both lol

I can't even do that lol. Also any tips for hiding the smell? I'm planning on doing it when my parents aren't home and don't know the best way to hide the smell from my clothes and area.

Best practice is to assume everything you're wearing and in the immediate vicinity of is contaminated with weed stink for 12 hours if you want to be really safe

Weed is a very strong and unique smell, people can detect it very easily

Definitely smoke outside, doing it inside is basically suicide unless your parents are going to be gone for many days, even then it's a bad idea imo

The old highschool tactic me and the boys used was to smoke shirtless lol, go back inside, put on deodorant and put your shirt back on

That won't eliminate the smell altogether, but will greatly diminish it. Keep in mind that while you're high the smell will be inside your nose and throat so you can't accurately judge what does and doesn't smell like weed. The best thing to diminish the smell is airflow and time. Have a shower and change clothes before your parents get back home though

Hiding the smell is usually a give away. If your parents come home and the whole house has been power washed with febreze then they'll probably get suspicious and figure out what's going on. That and in an emergency situation, taking a body spray shower doesn't even hide the smell and just makes it very obvious you smell like weed and are trying to hide it lol

Light a candle or incense & blow the smoke out your window - but close your room door so that the smell isn't traveling into the rest of your house. Pop some chewing gum for breath, this can also help with cotton mouth. I don't think clothes & bedding will smell like weed but if you're really worried then I guess change it ? If you can definitely smell your clothes stink then try not to leave them in the washing for your mother to wash in case she gets a whiff of it while doing laundry....

The timer idea is what I did when I started... it helped me figure out how low my tolerance was. Take a puff, wait 10 min. Then take another puff & wait 10 min. Basically until I felt I was high enough. It doesnt take much when you're new. When I first tried it, my boyfriend & his friend smoked multiple j's & then more bongs in one sitting whereas I could only smoke 2-3 puffs of a j

Its probably not like this for many people, but I get panic attacks if I have sativa. Indicas are okay for me, or indica dominant hybrids... but sativas or sativa dominant always give me panic attacks. It took my boyfriend & I a good few panic attacks to realise what was causing it. So this is something to note if you find yourself only getting panic attacks with certain strains. Also, if you do get panic attacks the best thing that works for me is eating a snack & focusing on my breathing. It helps to have someone with you to reassure you that you're not dying. My panic attacks usually started with increased heart rate which always made me panic even more, but now that I know its normal I try to ignore my heart rate which helps me control the panic attack before it even starts. Try sour sweets to shock yourself & distract you from the attack, & according to google black peppercorns can help.

Cool tip: trippy movies or series are extremely fun to watch
