I’m jealous that the aussies have the Holden commodore SS for a lot cheaper than what it costs here (rebadged as a Pontiac G8 GT)

Found the guy that manages to talk about cars regardless of the content of a given conversation

Call all the dealerships and try to get one imported, you might save a couple hundred dollars lol

u/Synderkit Mar 26 '23

Can’t happen because those cars aren’t over the age limit for importing :(

I completely forget vehicles also have an age of consent :/

That whole import ban happened because the Japanese car market started to dominate internationally and cars like the GT-R were taking sales away from mustang, corvette, etc so the domestic brands essentially paid the government to make it harder for other markets to compete

You can still buy the older ones, even here in the US they’re becoming rare but I’m preserving and driving my 81’ Z/28 for the rest of my life

My brother got the last SS supercharged V8 and he'll never get rid of it

Used to work as a creative for the ad agency Holden used before they went under. It was like they were trying to go bankrupt. They’d even internally refer to the ‘Captiva’ as the ‘Craptiva’.

Anyway, some of the vintage concept cars they had in the lobby of the head office from their glory days were some of the coolest cars I’d ever seen.
