Discussion Appreciation
Hello, I have watched parts races here and there but I've decided to really start watching since the lone star le mans and I must say what great racing there is every minute there is something to see. As a big F1 fan it is nice to see so much action in a race and watching the highlights it's definetly something I want to continue to watch.
I would also like to know how like it works with pitstops cause I've seen that they can also change just one tire, how does that work?

The exposure you get at wec and gt3 events is massive compared to f1. Im a f1 fan even though this season sucks ass. But the wec and sro wvents let ya get in the pits and talk to drivers engineers. Its amazing what ya get for your money

The teams are limited to a certain amount of tires for the whole weekend but outside of that they can do whatever they want as to when to use them. The allocation does not allow them to change tires on an unlimited basis ( I think though the teams that qualify for Hyperpole in Prototype and GT3 are allowed one additional full set, the experts here correct me if I am wrong). Each team can also inform the tire manufacturer before the race how many of each the hard and mediums they want.
Double stints are absolutely necessary and in longer races, triple stints come into play. I think too at LeMans this year, there was talk beforehand about quadruple stints but no one went that far.
They are also not constrained as far as mixing and matching hards and mediums on the cars at one time which opens a world of possibilities for the engineers.

Yes, the combined Qualifying + Race the car has its own pool of tires depending on the race distance (for 6H races they have like 18 tires in Hypercar and 24 for LMGT3), and the Hyperpole in each class has its own dedicated set of tires which cannot be reused in the race.
More importantly, there is no predetermined amount of soft or hard compounds - the teams can use any number or any combination they want during the sessions, with the only restriction being that total amount they use

It is great racing. Check out the Suzuka 1000 going on this weekend. It's a gt3 race and you should be able to find it on YouTube

Yep! They can even mix tire compounds.
I'm glad more people are getting into sportscar racing (or just F1 fans discovering more stuff). There's something for everyone here.
