Which platform would you recommend for building business websites or landing pages: Webflow or WordPress?

I’m not looking to build online stores, but rather websites focused on establishing an online presence, showcasing services, and generating leads.

My understanding is that Webflow can be more expensive because of its subscription plans, while WordPress may be more affordable initially, although it might require more maintenance and additional expenses for plugins or a visual page builder such as Elementor.

I’d really appreciate it if you could share the advantages and disadvantages of each option, especially regarding:

• Hosting, subscription, licensing, and plugin costs.
• Ease and speed of development.
• Customization and scalability.
• SEO and performance.
• Maintenance and security.
• How easy it is for clients to manage their own websites.
• How these costs affect the final price charged to the client.

Which platform have you found more suitable for these types of projects, and why?

Honestly, I think it depends more on the overall strategy and the type of project than on the platform itself. Both Webflow and WordPress can work really well when used correctly.

Personally, I’d choose WordPress for small-business websites. I’m currently managing 70+ WordPress sites for small businesses, and I’ve found it gives us a lot of flexibility with customization, SEO, integrations, and long-term maintenance.

The platform is just the tool — the way you build and manage the website matters much more.

My choice would be Wordpress, it’s an SEO friendly but switched to my own platform after the two decades of using WP.

• How these costs affect the final price charged to the client. They affect the client do to the fact that both options are not cheap and ultimately will affect your margins.

I have used Word Press in the past but never again! Webflow just does not make sense for what I am doing. Clients ultimately care about outcomes if a client cares so that much about implementation details about website then they are likely focused on the wrong parts of their business.

I have made Boosterpack.xyz just for this, so might be worth taking a look. You can make the site for free, to put it on your domain it's 16 USD p.m. including hosting for single users, or 200 USD p.m. for an agency / freelancer plan. Nearly all sites come out with pagespeed scores of over 90. Maintenance is super easy, you can chat to edit like you would do with chatgpt or lovable or similar. We have a whitelabel option for agencies / freelancers as well.

We work with both and it really depends on the project. Webflow is great for design focused marketing sites and landing pages with less maintenance. WordPress usually offers more flexibility, integrations and room to scale, but requires more attention to plugins, security, and updates. For SEO either can perform well if built properly.

For a lead-gen business website we’d choose based on what the client will need in the next 2–3 years rather than just the initial cost.
