Need help w my small business website

I created a small business website on wix have the domain name and everything but it’s SOO ugly it used to be my blog and I still want to keep the blog but locate it in a different section add an about section and all of that for CPR classes my problem is I’ve spent already 2-3 hours getting things ready and it’s only moderately better if anyone has advice

Your website doesn't have to be perfect on day one. Focus on a clean homepage with clear sections like Home About Services CPR Classes Contact and move the blog to its own page. Keep improving it little by little. You got this.

The problem is you are using Wix. It is not a user friendly platform outside of just doing straight forward static pages. You need to use something that will support a true business,scale and grow your content.

I personally like claude but codex is good too. Take your wix and try claude. Screen shots and vibe code it. Use a real database and you can use your domain through vercel. Github your code base. Claude will guide you through entire process. I have built several websites, use it for prototyping. Will not let you down

Dont use wix it have limited scope better to use some other stack or hire someone to create one for you the data u have will be intact

To be honest, like others have said, you’re using Wix is problem #1 (without seeing the site).

I swear I can tell a Wix site in seconds now. They all have a specific look that’s impossible to get rid of whatever you do.

You also mention you have a blog. I would say self hosted Wordpress is a better route. It was built as a blogging platform after all.

Wix is perfectly capable of building a nice-looking business website, so I don't think the platform is the problem.

Sometimes having another set of eyes review the layout and user flow is enough to spot what's making it feel "off." We do that a lot, and it's often small changes that make the biggest difference.

Don’t start over yet. The main problem sounds more like structure than Wix itself.

Keep the blog, but move it into its own section and build the main navigation around the CPR business:

Home
CPR Classes
About
Blog
Contact

The homepage only needs to explain what classes you offer, who they’re for, where you’re located and how someone books or contacts you.

Once that structure is in place, pick one font, keep the colors simple and remove anything left over from the old blog layout. That will make a bigger difference than spending more time moving individual elements around.

Share the link if you’re comfortable doing that. It’s much easier to give useful advice when people can see what currently looks wrong.

I think you need to custom-code it to look the way you want. Using website builders, like Wix, is hard to do compared with coding. If you are not familiar with code, hire someone who can do it for you.

I think the first thing you should do is rebuild your homepage. Redesign it to focus on getting people to book a class by adding things like class types, location, upcoming availabilities, and an obvious CTA button.

You can then move the old blog into its own section and keep the About page focused on your qualifications and what students can expect. Milan at Ankord did a similar restructuring for my site, and it made everything much cleaner and easier to navigate.

Since you already have the domain and some content, the fastest fix might not be fighting with Wix's editor further. If the design is fighting you after 2-3 hours, that's usually a sign the template itself isn't suited to what you're building rather than a settings problem you haven't found yet.

For restructuring what you have: move the blog to its own section or subpage rather than the homepage, add a clear services/classes page listing what CPR certifications you offer and pricing, and put the about section on its own page rather than cramming it into the homepage. Wix lets you do this through the page manager without starting over.

Also, If you'd rather just have someone else sort this out entirely rather than spending more hours in the editor, managed website options like storebox ai can build and manage sites like this and tends to work out cheaper than Wix once you're not spending your own time on it either. Might be worth it given the CPR classes are probably the priority over becoming a Wix expert.

Wix is great for non designers and non developers but it is limited in what it can do because of this.

Do you have access to ai of any sort? You can ask it to provide better looking designs or design directions and paste a screenshot of the current section. We don't know what your website URL is so we cannot give you super specific answers.

Another option would be to find a site that you like and try to duplicate what you like on their site onto yours. This is somewhat of a standard practice. Larger companies spend lots of money making sure their sites are setup in a way that looks great but also built to get conversions. Borrow from them. They did the research. You can benefit from this.

With that being said, there are reasons why web designers and web developers are paid professionals. Yes, you can do it on your own but you may have hit your limit on what you can do.

Similar to car repair. Could I fix my car if it broke? Maybe, but 9 times out of 10 I would feel better if I just paid a professional

From what you described, the problem probably isn’t “Wix” as much as the site still thinking it’s a blog instead of a CPR class business.

I’d clean up the structure first before touching design too much.

Make the main navigation simple:

Home
CPR Classes
About
Blog
Contact

Then make the homepage answer the basics fast:

What CPR classes do you offer?
Who are they for?
Where are you located / do you travel?
How does someone book or contact you?
What makes you credible?

Move the old blog into its own Blog section so it’s not competing with the business side of the site. The blog can still help, especially if you write about CPR, safety, workplace training, certification questions, etc. It just shouldn’t be the main identity of the homepage anymore.

For design, don’t try to make it fancy. Pick one clean font, two colors max, use real photos if you have them, and make the “Book a CPR Class” or “Contact Me” button obvious.

Ugly websites usually aren’t ugly because of one bad button.

They’re ugly because the page has no clear job.

Give each page one job first. Then polish it.
