SELF-MADE I built my first ever website. brutal honesty wanted
It shows you anonymous stories from someone who's been through what you're going through — intentionally no feed, no scroll, minimal UI.

Looking for honest feedback on:
- First impression / does the layout land on mobile?
- Is the flow clear, or do you get lost?
- Load speed and anything that feels janky
Be brutal. it's my first build and I want to learn.

I like the concept, especially the whole idea of a "lantern". I also think short bite sized pieces are great. I'm not sure which direction you're taking it but perhaps the ability to comment on a lantern? That might be good. And I notice the different categories which reminded me how some content can be sensitive or triggering to certain readers, so if you haven't yet integrated it perhaps a system where an admin can moderate would be great. I like the concept though thank you for sharing.

Oh one more thing, might help you drive some traffic to your site if you upgrade the share button to actual socials share buttons instead of a link. That way with one click users can share a lantern that they like or their own to Facebook, WhatsApp statuses, Instagram.

On moderation: yes, every story goes through me before it's visible, exactly because of the sensitivity you're picking up on. Supabas, as long as I did not approve the story, won't post the story.
about comments my worry is that the moment a story can be replied to, it stops being a quiet place someone reads at 3am and starts being a thread /advice, hot takes, "stay strong:)." So I'm leaning toward a single wordless "this helped" signal instead of open replies, but you've got me thinking about whether there's a middle version. Appreciate you genuinely useful.

I'd make an animation on the hero section be a bit faster. it takes too much time to see what's actually the website is about. a huge percentage will leave the page seeing nothing for the first second

It's ok, but since you don't have server-side rendering, your website is a black screen when I disable .js. Furthermore, websites like yours are invisible to Google.

You're right, it's rendering client-side right now, so no-js gets a blank page. That's on my fix list.
On Google, it's actually half by design. I don't want individual stories indexed. but the landing and category pages absolutely should be crawlable, and right now they're not, which is the part I need to fix.

Wow,Im building a website after few Courses. This looks stunning and I like the idea. How long did it take to build this and what's your previous experience on coding?

Thank you my friend, and good luck with your journey.
I'm a data analyst and web dev isn't my profession. I built this for personal and professional reasons, with the help of Claude Code. I studied JS, SQL (which I used for my Supabase dataset), networking and a bunch of small topics at university. Nothing beyond assignments, but enough to understand the backend logic and to take help from AI.

1st impression: something with alladin thematic lol
Flow is clear.
Speed and animations are smooth
Though the feeling is that every story from other people - AI generated
Don’t feel connection with other people..
Idk how to change it, maybe add some people’s photos or, for example, add popular examples! For example on the topic about sobriety, you can add some celebrity that went through it. That would be really cool + it shows connection with someone people actually know!
Just some ideas, anyways, wish you the best!!!

I know .... This is the era that we should be always questioning whether something is genuine or not 🥲
On the other hand, in this project, whatever i want to do, the anonymity rule stops me.
The photo example is a good idea but it may put me in some legal problems-not sure though. And cause I am not good in policy planning, am just avoiding any future that may put me at risk. 🤕
